Northwest London (fastest growing area of the city for years) doesn't have much for sports/recreation (other than the Canada Games pool, which has been there for decades).

I think they missed an opportunity to build something more substantial at the Middlesex YMCA (komoka). Plenty of land they should have put in a full sports complex at minimum 1 turf field. The city is seriously lacking good fields.

This on Dingman would be great but still need something North/West area

Really awesome to see. I love to see these kinds of facilities expanding.

There was another really interesting blurb in the article - the initial plan was to build an outdoor stadium with seating on that land but they pivoted toward youth development instead of pro teams. I wonder if there were some preliminary talks with the CPL at some point that fell through.

This is great news, the city desperately needs more turf fields.

Options still being considered for Thames Park rejuvanation. Also still looking for location in old south for a new indoor pool. They should look seriously at replacing Farquharson Arena or the old Weston factory on Weston St.

Glen Cairn Arena is now being demolished. They are keeping the pool for now with possible work to extend its life.

Nice. I have yet to visit Labatt Park (despite being a baseball fan going back to the Expos' days at Jarry Park in the early 1970s).

Possible site for new indoor pool report. Years away from any decision.

https://lfpress.com/news/local-news/afte...s-six-replacement-sites?itm_source=index

Also worth noting the lack of 50m pools highlighted in this article.

CTV article on where a future indoor pool rec centre might be built in Old South. Talk is these will cost ~$100M these days. Gulp!!!!

Still think they should demolish Farquharson Arena and build the new indoor pool and rec centre in its place. Make it a 50m pool and add a full sized gym with workout rooms, meeting rooms etc etc.
Partner with the School board and take over the existing elementary school property and rebuild the school with a child care centre as part of the project to maximize the footprint to provide a couple of levels of underground parking.

Seems to me there is a lot of synergy between the needs of the School board and city recreation dept.
