baby tortoise we found wandering in a garden
At the Hula Nature Reserve in northern Israel (which used to be a swamp, now drained for agriculture, which they now realize was an ecological mistake) they guesstimate a billion birds use the narrow Israeli flyway between the Mediterranean Sea and the Syrian desert to migrate between Europe, Asia and Africa.
We saw them catching birds in netting to record and band them.
This little birdie was in the process of being banded and sacrificed a few seconds of freedom to be photographed.
