Some very interesting stats on the LDS conference center. It seats 21,200 making it the largest building of its kind in the world. Theater style seating, with completely unobstructed views. It has a 3 acre green roof of local grasses and trees. The granite cladding was quarried in Cottonwood Canyon, where Brigham Young oversaw the original quarrying of granite for the Salt Lake City Temple in the 1890's.

This ethereal, astounding beauty is the Baha'i Temple in Wilmette, Illinois.

In my opinion, it is one of the most beautiful and perfect, if not THE most beautiful and perfect, religious building in the world.

French-Canadian architect Louis Bourgeois dedicated more than 8 exhausting years to finish the architectural drawings and blueprints.
The temple's cornerstone was laid in 1912 and construction was completed in 1953. Its circular design consists of 9 sides, and symbolizes unity with God and acceptance of all religions, sects and races of the world.

It stands on a bluff overlooking Lake Michigan, surrounded by an immaculately manicured garden featuring multiple water features and walkways that meander through vibrant flowerbeds and lush foliage.

I've attended a First Communion there, it's spectacular inside. As good as some of the pics in this thread have been, the concrete really has to be seen in person to appreciate it. Amazing church!

For as big as Lakewood is, it's very nice especially considering what it looked like as the Compaq Center during the Rockets' final days there.

I agree. This place was amazing when I visited. I am Catholic, and this place almost made me want to change to Baha'i.

Cathedral of St. John the Divine, NYC, was never mentioned here and should be listed. As well as being huge, it's also an architectural mix.

Chancel is Italian Renaissance with Gothic vaulting. The Crossing is Byzantine. Remainder is French Gothic.
