I'm guessing that regardless of how guaranteed it is that this building will be built, we won't see movement on it any time soon. With construction beginning in earnest on the Travis and 98 RR on either side of this, I doubt they can manage to have construction going on this at the same time.

Site prep for the Travis and 98RR are already overlapping, possibly due to the Waller Creek enhancements that are also happening. 80RR would be between those two. Once the Travis and 98RR are complete, we may be looking at this project and 99RR getting started.

I was told that 3 towers in Rainey were negotiating having cranes up at the same time.

The most probable are 98RR and the Travis along with this one.

That said, my source is involved in the Travis so I have limited info beyond that.

Hudson Yards was pretty much built at the same time, right!?! Several of the new WTC towers and underground mall were constructed at the same time...

All three of these projects (98RR, Travis, and M2's "Ritz") are owned by different development companies, correct? If so, why would one make way for the other two to progress and wait to realize a return on its own investment until 2028/2029? Doesn't make financial since.

I'd expect some sort of announcement and/or city filing regarding the "Ritz" tower soon or we may hear about the impending sale of said property to another developer - which then would punt development down the road a bit.

That's right. Genesis still owns the site. It was never sold to M2.

Oh...so, did Genesis enter into some sort of development agreement with M2? Otherwise, why was M2 kind-of promoting this SOM-designed tower for a while?

Welcome. In the Travis thread you mentioned the Ritz was a go. Do you have a timeline?

Urbannizer linked to the original press release from M2 about this project in the Travis thread, and design was originally expected to be completed by April 2022. So maybe we'll hear something in a month or two.

All I know is it's all being worked out and contingent on a few things.

Gracias. I have been on this forum for about 21 years. I was in elementary and middle school when I was active and posting. Since, I have been a fly on the wall. Had to create a new account because I can't remember the old name or email - it was something ridiculously stupid anyway.

Any idea as to what "things" still need to be "worked out?"

Ha! Honesty.

Even though my profile says 2003, I actually joined in mid-2001. Then September 11 happened (I was JACKinNYC at the time) and I took a break from looking at tall buildings on the internet. Then I came back in 2003 and had to rejoin for some reason. I think Dylan had gotten a new hosting service or something. Anyway, good to have you back under your new, non-ridiculously stupid, name.

I think I was westaustinballer; all I did was embellish anything and everything.

That username sounds familiar. I was the kid who would post a picture of some celebrity when we had the [show us you] thread. And then, like 4 years after I posted a picture of Ashton Kutcher (me), I posted a real picture of my 6th grade friends and me posing -- I am not sure the correct word is these days - but someone who is attracted to the opposite gender identification than what they identify as (if you analyze that past sentence, it turns into a mind boggling set of scenarios because of the indefinite and evolving set of variables, despite it being hyper-specific. The sentence has a life of its own).

Thank you for the welcome-back. I appreciate it.

FYI - my attribution of the image(s) stems from the language used by others on this thread, and has no correlation to any personal opinion or belief.
