Mild, showers and fog today.

Went for a couple walks. One up in the Canadian Shield and then another along Lake Ontario.

Lake Ontario

Fog being as fickle as it, same spot about 10 minutes later

Sunny for most of the day, then clouded up. High was 20.7 and low was 14.7. Tomorrow could possibly hit 25, then back to seasonal for the weekend and cold by Halloween.

All these freezes seem really early this year. Typically you wouldn't expect to see the first frost in Southern Ontario & BC until November. Some years Victoria has even gone without freezing.

The only location in Ontario that has been a bit early this year is Toronto, which usually makes it into November. Very early for Victoria too, though it has frozen at some point before the end of the year in most of our freeze lists in the last 5'ish years. Everything else is par the course, except for Kingston and Charlottetown, both of which are surprising survivors as we approach November.

17C and overcast. I won't complain since those are awesome temperatures for this time of the year but a little bit of sun would be nice.

Low of 15C this morning. Very pleasant sleeping weather. Windows open and very conformable. That is the flip side of the clouds. Super mild nights.

The warmspot was Kejimkujik Park, NS at 23.6C.

Warmest low was Windsor, ON at 15.2C.

Not even close. The only place that has the potential to go a year without freezing are very isolated BC remote islands in the middle of the ocean. And even that happen VERY rarely.

11C and rain in Moncton at 9 AM, going up to 17C this afternoon. Clearing off this evening, but the overnight low will remain a balmy 12C.

Big changes next week.

There’s a chance not a single city makes it to November this year. But looking at the forecast, many of the Maritimes cities may freeze in the early hours of November 1st. Maybe even survive that night but it’s not a given. Kingston and Montreal will likely fall before the end of the month. And Vancouver froze this morning.

The hourly observations show a minimum temperature in Vancouver of +0.5C, but, I believe you. If you want, you can update the freeze list with the actual temperature, or, otherwise, we'll wait for Marty and his "deep dive."

I just checked the link that was shared on a previous page, which I ended up adding to my bookmarks. It shows a low of -0.3C, which doesn’t show on EC’s hourly readings. But I’ll leave it to the “experts”.

It's rare for sure, but has happened: "Victoria has recorded completely freeze-free winter seasons four times (in 1925–26, 1939–40, 1999–2000, and 2002–03)."
