There's this one pano from the Monarch Club rooftop that puts that one to shame but it's so big I decided not to post here's a link to it though. - Rooftop Panorama

It's kind of a catch 22 with "The Parks" ideally they were designed to be enjoyed during the warmer months when the foliage is thick and full however this obscures most of the low-rises which really give the area its character. Great for homeowners who enjoy their privacy not to mention a slice of nature in the heart of the city but it's hard to find many good photos that can capture the true character of these hoods in an all encompassing way.
Couple of green season bonus pics.
Specifically focusing in on the Hyde Park section of Elmwood.

Westside density .. though it's a damn shame what 96 did to the retail along Grand River, the Image is taken from airplane window so the quality isn't so great but the view is primo.

I can see that spot is in the middle of the city center and surrounded by tall buildings, somehow it doesn't get NYC or Chicago's metropolis vibe
You know it's interesting you mention this I actually thought something similar when I chose this pic, I definitely dig the view but the angle is very low making the skyline look squat or stunted. There were several other pics from the rooftop patio that with a more comprehensive view of the cityscape & skyline that I personally liked better unfortunately the photos were absolutely massive. One of my pet peeves on threads like these happens to be are random over sized pics with a small number caveats for top notch photography or panoramas 'n the like. I dug up the pic below to illustrate a better view of the merchants row neighborhood I wish it included a bit more of the financial district skyline but beggars can't be choosers. lol
Getting back to the point at hand IMO in and around the financial district Detroit gives me that gotham city NYC - Chi vibe. Obviously Detroit doesn't have the same size skyline just as Chicago's doesn't compare in size and scope to NYC I get the point your making though. A couple tall new towers in the center of downtown would help make for a better comparison too once the Hudsons & Monroe block developments are completed in a couple years Detroit's dense deco filled heart will be vibin' properly.
Detroit doesn't seem to have the same kind of tourist driven professional photographic scene that many of its peers do a lot of the time i'll be surfing through development photos of a project i'm interested in then all of a sudden a completely different set will pop up i'll find myself pulling on that thread and end up surprising myself with what I come up with. haha
At first this development seemed to me like it was too disconnected from the rest of the neighborhood but once you get down to street level and explore a bit the blending isn't too bad at all for phase one.

It's been rewarding to see a number of really great projects come online at around the same time not just in greater downtown but in a number of the city's popular neighborhoods. What's been catching my eye lately has been the ever evolving vibe in the greater downtown area and adjacent neighborhoods like right here with northern & central portions of Brush Park being filled in with the City Modern development the skyline takes on a different ambiance.
Woodward Ave. frontage northern Brush Park awaits possible new development on the north side of the Bonstelle Theater a 12 story hotel is on hold while Roxbury figures out how or who to move forward with after the west elm brand ran into legal issues.
The City Modern development is really nicely providing the kind of quality infill to aestheticly speaking properly tie up some loose ends & vacant areas in central and northwestern B.P. with the original Victorian character of the neighborhood with the monotonous plain Crosswinds townhomes.
Phase I of City Modern from the first half of 2019 filling out upper Brush Park. While patiently waiting for construction of the Brewster- Douglass redevelopment by Bedrock to begin there's definitely a certain satisfaction in watching the completion phase of agonizingly slow transformation of Brush Park from one of the most infamous symbols of Detroit's decay to a showcase of the revitalization.
Renovations will finish on remaining victorian mansions in the City Modern sphere of influence before the start of construction begins on infill. KURT NAGL; Crain's Detroit Business
City Modern continues work northward along John R towards Comerica Park during the winter. I would imagine the so far relatively mild winter has at the very least helped keep things on track of not speed things up especially with foundation work. The near lack of ice cover on the lakes is mirrored in the in the state of the muddy mostly unfrozen ground here in S.E. MI.

One of my favorite shots from this angle hands down the Detroit & Windsors skylines are well framed and proportioned with the majority of each on the inside in relation to the Ambassador Bridge towers
