Red Rock Pointe, as the planned complex is called, will be a mixed-income community with about 70 or 80 percent of the apartments set aside as affordable housing units.
MOAR affordable housing is GOOD.

The Aurora Urban Renewal Authority has chosen a master developer for its 21.5-acre redevelopment site called Regatta Plaza, located near the Nine Mile Station.

A partnership between Mile High Development LLC and Koelbel & Co. will serve as the developer on the project, which will ultimately become a transit-oriented development. The site is located within the Nine Mile Station Urban Renewal Area.
Being familiar with the area Regatta Plaza which was once very nice has suffered in recent years even with King Soopers as an anchor. There's a decent amount of density in nearby neighborhoods to the north and west but it is landlocked by I-225 to the east and I-225/Cherry Creek Reservoir to the south.

FMC is a solid company although most of their business comes from deep water drilling. Perhaps they're eying Colorado's ocean front property, dunno. Their incentive package was approved by the Colorado Economic Development Commission in October 2013. Shows that these deals can take time to come to fruition.

With the Polar Ice Caps going to be melting in a few years, and the ocean levels raising because of that, well..... maybe the Denver-Julesburg Basin will be under water and their equipment will be first in the market here? Nothing wrong with preparing for the future eh?

Yea oh no! Don't let us loose our new pot shop and ugly rug store that somehow stays open even though you never see a single person in there. The only other place is the hotel which I am sure will be incorporated into the design as it would cost at least a 1/3 of the budget just to buy the place in order to demo it.

The project, called "WISE" (Water Infrastructure and Supply Efficiency), is an agreement among 10 southern water districts, Denver Water and Aurora Water that will bring treated water to the southern communities, reducing their reliance on depleting groundwater sources. The project is expected to wrap up and start delivering water by June 2016.
While this deal has been in the works for awhile it's good to see it's ready to proceed. Might even help start some much needed new housing?
