"The Confluence" is a five story mixed-use development at the corner of Linden and Willow Streets, what once was the parade grounds for Camp Collins. The development features ground floor retail, second floor office, and 21 residential units with an anticipated Spring 2016 start date.

That looks like a great project.

Having been awhile... I did a search for the location. I see it's equidistant between New Belgium and Coopersmith's. That could be quite a dilemma for deciding on Happy Hour.

"Housing nonprofit revamping vacant office"

Metro West Housing Solutions, a nonprofit Lakewood housing authority, bought an eight-story office building at 5800 W. Alameda Ave. in February with plans to build about 160 apartment units at the site.

"That tower has stood there like an eyesore for decades and has been vacant pretty much the whole time since it was built,” said Brendalee Connors, Metro West’s chief real estate officer. “We took it and thought we can turn this into something that is really a nice asset for the community.”

Connors said the early plans call for about 55 apartments in the current tower with another 100 or so units in a new construction building Metro West will put up on the same site.

Red Rock Pointe, as the planned complex is called, will be a mixed-income community with about 70 or 80 percent of the apartments set aside as affordable housing units.

MOAR affordable housing is GOOD.

Nine Mile TOD

The Aurora Urban Renewal Authority has chosen a master developer for its 21.5-acre redevelopment site called Regatta Plaza, located near the Nine Mile Station.

A partnership between Mile High Development LLC and Koelbel & Co. will serve as the developer on the project, which will ultimately become a transit-oriented development. The site is located within the Nine Mile Station Urban Renewal Area.

Being familiar with the area Regatta Plaza which was once very nice has suffered in recent years even with King Soopers as an anchor. There's a decent amount of density in nearby neighborhoods to the north and west but it is landlocked by I-225 to the east and I-225/Cherry Creek Reservoir to the south.

"We believe that this site represents one of the best transit-oriented development sites in the entire FasTracks system, and look forward to working with AURA, the city and the community to share our vision for a truly dynamic mixed-use project."

...said Molly Markert, Aurora City Council member. "This development will be far superior to anything I imagined, and it will foster even more redevelopment and growth activity for our area."

Shouldn't be long now before development in Aurora is On Fiyah.

Meritage Homes (NYSE: MTH) has broken ground on Richards Farm, a 125-home development near the intersection of 72nd Avenue and Indiana Street in Arvada.

The development is financed by San Diego-based Presidio Residential Capital and will be built on 32 acres across from Arvada's APEX Recreation Center. Richards Farm is the first project Presidio has funded in Colorado

That's a nice area and the Apex Recreation Center is very impressive.

" 'Super base' for fracking equipment opens in Brighton"

FMC Technologies Inc., which makes and services equipment used in hydraulic fracturing and well completion operations, has opened an $11.9 million “super-base” in Brighton to serve customers in the Denver-Julesburg Basin, which sprawls north and east of Denver to the state lines.

FMC (NYSE: FTI), based in Houston, held a grand opening celebration at the new 20-acre sight in Brighton on Tuesday. The center opens with 66 employees, with plans to add another 50 jobs during the next five years.

FMC is a solid company although most of their business comes from deep water drilling. Perhaps they're eying Colorado's ocean front property, dunno. Their incentive package was approved by the Colorado Economic Development Commission in October 2013. Shows that these deals can take time to come to fruition.

"Utah energy-support company considering move to Commerce City"

A Utah company that provides engineering and technological support to energy companies is considering moving its headquarters to Commerce City and employing 287 people in this area.

Colorado Economic Development Commission members voted unanimously Thursday to offer $3.56 million in job-growth incentive tax credits to the unnamed privately held company, which already employs about 35 people at a location in Adams County.

Said company is also considering expanding in Utah or Arizona. Wait, Arizona? Maybe "energy company" doesn't mean oil & gas in this case?

Yea oh no! Don't let us loose our new pot shop and ugly rug store that somehow stays open even though you never see a single person in there. The only other place is the hotel which I am sure will be incorporated into the design as it would cost at least a 1/3 of the budget just to buy the place in order to demo it.

"Water for south Denver metro communities is on its way with pipeline groundbreaking set"

Denver's southern suburbs will break ground in June on a regional water project that will bring renewable surface water to suburban communities.

The project, called "WISE" (Water Infrastructure and Supply Efficiency), is an agreement among 10 southern water districts, Denver Water and Aurora Water that will bring treated water to the southern communities, reducing their reliance on depleting groundwater sources. The project is expected to wrap up and start delivering water by June 2016.

While this deal has been in the works for awhile it's good to see it's ready to proceed. Might even help start some much needed new housing?
