When a status Mi'kmaq band was created in Newfoundland about 20 years ago, suddenly about 40% of the provinces population applied for status benefits. Were they wrong???
I often wonder about that myself. My lineage can be traced back to the 17th century when my earliest ancestor came over to Quebec. Maybe not in my direct line but my great great grandfather was pretty big in the Klondike gold rush as well. Must have been some illegitimate children to be had. Apparently there is a creek named after him in the valley he mined.

Liberals have decided to pause the home heating fuel carbon tax for 3 years, as well as doubling the rural supplement on the carbon rebate.

May be wayyyy too late to save face at this point, but it's certainly an attempt to change fortunes.

I love this line from her Wiki page ...

Memories of Kathleen Wynne rolling out electricity subsidies in 2017...

That's what most of my other forums do. I was surprised to see this forum with threads of 1000+ replies or pages.

So transparent. Pause until election and then don't worry we won't pick your pocket. I don't know if it stops the bleeding they are mad about gas prices too in rural areas. Atlantic being main area Liberals still have seats in rural areas.

Ah yes, the classic smell of sweat stained underarm on a fine silk shirt. It is a little known fact that the aroma of sweat will change and become much more pungent during a panic attack.

Inhale deeply JT, inhale deeply...........

She probably doesn't edit her Wikipedia page.

And Sixties Scoop was a term coined in the early 80s because those were the peak years when Indigenous children were taken from families and adopted by White families.

Quote:
Between approximately 1951 and 1984, an estimated 20,000 or more First Nations, Métis and Inuit infants and children were taken from their families by child welfare authorities and placed for adoption in mostly non-Indigenous households. This mass removal of Indigenous children from their homes, supported by a series of government policies, became known as the ‘Sixties Scoop’.
https://irshdc.ubc.ca/learn/the-chil...sixties-scoop/

While Buffy Sainte-Marie was born sometime in 1940-1941 it's alleged that's how she ended up being adopted by a White family from Massachusetts. Taken from Indigenous mother/parents sometime after birth and put up for adoption.

I don't understand trying to sully someone and their reputation, an amazing musician and all around decent human being after decades of success. Someone that looks Indigenous even if we can't pinpoint her exact date/location of birth.

I'm confused, is the wokester CBC tacitly apologizing for it's own story even before it airs? They have published this CP story on their website.

Buffy Sainte-Marie calls Indigenous identity questions hurtful
Sainte-Marie posted statements on social media to address upcoming investigation by CBC's The Fifth Estate

Rumors circulating CBC gem will release a documentary on Chef Boyardee stating there are claims he's not really Italian but really a pupet from a Portuguese pasta company in the 50s. When reached for comment Boyardee simply stated " I speak how you say a fractured english" and rushed into his apartment in Turin refusing to take more questions.

I'd put the Buffy Ste-Marie question in the same "who cares" bin as JT's marital issues.

Was the other Buffy 1/32 Cherokee?

Do you have a link, you're always posting stuff without corroborating evidence.

Almost exactly one year ago, the Conservatives introduced a motion calling for home heating oil to be exempt from the carbon tax, and the Liberals voted against it. Ironic.
