Right! I've been following the St. John's webcams too; there are no words to describe the stunning beauty of those images, with the city buried under tons of snow. It’s like watching a sci-fi movie—it seems unbelievable that there are places on this planet where so much snow can fall.

Basically we received no snow in Moncton from this storm. Checking the radar, it came close (within 40-50 km).

Currently -7C with light freezing drizzle.

First shoveling and coffee run complete. It started picking up again just as I slid home.

After you shovel it you will have three words: "Oh my back!"

I love the beauty of fresh fallen snow. Clearing 3 tons of wet snow just so that I can get out? Not so much.

No, unfortunately, shovels are pretty useless here in Palermo—at least when it comes to digging out of the snow!

Perché spalare? Lascia che la natura faccia il suo corso, la neve prima o poi si scioglierà comunque. Preferirei di gran lunga usare il tempo per fare dei pupazzi di neve.

I appreciate your romanticism for snowmen, but, here in Canada life goes on. If we didn't shovel we could end up housebound for 3-4 months and the economy would grind to a halt.

A surprising amount of snow has melted here, despite the fact that the warmest it's gotten to since the big storm is -5.4. But every day has been sunny, and the sun is at a higher and higher angle each and every day.

Another cold one, -8 and sunny, going up to -5. This week will hover around that tempurature until Friday, where we will briefly get to around the freezing mark (or slightly above), only to then drop back down to -20 again.

The good news, after that next arctic blast, it looks like the second half of February will be somewhere between average and relatively warm.

You're right, MonctonRad; if you Canadians didn't shovel all the snow that falls on your streets, the Canadian economy would be paralyzed for months. But let me dream—here in Palermo, the only thing we can shovel is sand.

LOL! You must have a great boss, who would not mind you being absent from work until the spring melt. But then you might get hungry when your food supply starts to run short.

Look, unless you're way up in the highlands, snow days and deep freezes aren't even on the radar for bosses here in Sicily

I just cleared about 40 cm of the absolute heaviest mix of snow and ice from my driveway while some mix of snow, ice pellets, and rain fell sideways into my face. It's so wet outside, it's absolutely miserable.

I'd probably trade a Winnipeg cold winter with light, fluffy snow to be completely honest.

^ It never ends until it does.

It's been rainy and cool in Vancouver today, the high at YVR was about 9°C.
