Or maybe it belongs here instead of the skyline thread...

I saw shots like that on the news last week and was quite shocked that Kelowna has developed a skyline. See the odd shot on here mostly but they don't really come across like the shot above does.

Fort Langley is a nice little suburban town tucked away in the Eastern Lower Mainland.

It's a small town where almost everything is centered along just few streets, but full of nice old heritage buildings.

Fort Langley Community Hall has been seen on many movies.

There is a surprising number of breakfast restaurants in the area, many of them really good, too.

McMillan Island on the other side of the Bedford Channel has some nice trails which we have previously visited.

Fort Langley is very popular especially during summer weekends and patios are bound to be full when the weather is nice.

Vintage and Farmer's Markets are a common sight.

This was our first time actually spending some time in Fort Langley and it is a fun place to check out. We were quite lucky it also not being quite as busy on the Saturday we went, as it can be packed on some days.

I love Fort Langley. Before the Golden Ears Bridge we drove through it all the time, but I haven't been there in years now. Nice pics!

So I was in Kelowna literally 2 days before the fire.

I drove in from Vernon at around 11pm, the entire way the temp was above 30 (hitting as high as 34 in spots). Driving along the lakeshore / hillsides at night in that heat was amazing, it felt like I was driving along the Baha.

Anyways, the next day was pretty nice, hazy, but could still feel the sun strong in the sky. Was about 37. I took the drone out and still got some decent pics.

I'm an odd person where I actually enjoy a little haze at times in the summer, gives it an LA / California vibe. Maybe that is just from growing up watching so many films made in LA and the warm feeling the setting always has with the haze.

First the drone shots:

Downtown is definitely looking a lot more dense these days with a nice mix of mid and high rises.

Now for a few shots I took when going to lunch. It was a delicious Indonesian soup restaurant!

Great images, Kelowna is really quite a city. I look forward to going out toward that area one day.

Thanks! Of course I recommend doing so in the summer, but anytime from mid April to the end of October is a nice time to visit.

Also, if you do ever go, PM me and I can give you some tips for good restaurants, sightseeing spots, etc…

Still a little hazy in Kamloops. Can almost see all the way down Kamloops Lake though. This was taken from Tobiano, which is about the mid point on the lake.

I posted this in the Vancouver forum but I really liked how the wildfire smoke added to the tone of the sunset.

The new Kengo Kuma tower (with its laughably priced units) is in the background.

Thought these photos of the growing, and now "officially"-designated Bangla Town in East York/Scarborough were cool. One of many interesting little neighbourhoods in Toronto that I've never really explored:

Klazu, McMinsen and Metro-One - gorgeous photos, thanks for sharing! Love to see the rapid changes in Kelowna, also hoping to see more Kamloops photos on here as well.

And quite the purple/pink sunset in Halifax above, unusual colours!

Thank you Echoes! Any chance of a 2023 Saskatoon photo tour from you?!

And I realized I forgot perhaps my favourite photo from Saturday:

Gorgeous set zoomer! I love the angles and the depth of those images.
I really like the atmospheric effect in both that Kamloops image and Vancouver. The environment may be completely different, but having differing amounts of light in each image really does a lot for dictating the mood and tone of the image.

Those Kelowna pictures from Metro-One are very impressive. I've been looking at Kelowna pics here for years so I shouldn't be surprised, but I am always amazed by how big Kelowna is anytime someone posts skyline shots from there.

Thanks GeneralLee - funny I didn’t even realize nearly all of the photos had a common theme of not being a typical straight on shot - sure the parkade shots, but most of the others as well were taken looking down or up.

Echoes - please and thank you in advance! Cities we need to see much more of on here include Saskatoon, Regina and Quebec City. For me a city sweet spot is between 200,000 and 500,000 people (putting aside QC for a minute). A vibrant city at this size has 95% of what a big city has but with little of the unavoidable ‘baggage’ that can drag it down. Of course I love big cities too, everywhere has something interesting and unique to offer.
