Well it goes without saying that we all appreciate your posts and articles; they're of very high quality and very informative.

It's great to see all of these redevelopments moving forward. Hopefully that will spur some more activity on the upper end of Canal. Developers would have a much easier time there with all of those 20+ story hotel towers.

Good god that's fugly. Isn't this project subject to some kind of design review or public feedback, across the street from the FQ?

I don't think its that bad but it isn't great. reminds me a lot of Harrahs Parking Garages. Also, it isn't in any kind of design review other than the 50,000 sqft review requirement but that itsnt really to do with aesthetics. I think its good infill scale wise though.. Honestly the look of the Paramount would have worked great here!

I was thinking the same thing. Yuck. It'd be an insult to Metairie, let alone across from the Quarter on the new streetcar line.

They should make it look like the one in Nashville.

Yeah. I know we've got that very same issue quite sometimes over here, but still, easy... It just should be drowned in the middle of better things, like social-mixed or whatever they call it, then eventually get better itself. Otherwise it will face a real harsh
Yea. That's the way it goes.

Yeah wow that's an awful design. It's already going to stick out being such a large building in that location (which I don't have a problem with), but the patchwork design is really distracting. Why can't they just make it simple? Perhaps they were thinking that breaking up the design would make it less monolithic, but clearly it doesn't. I think something all brick or all glass/steel would be attractive and less irksome.

BTW the one in Nashville appears to be a building from 1910, so we won't see anything like that here.

Great to see the Rault project moving forward so quickly! It's about time.

I totally agree... there is just too much going on. It would be better if they just followed something like the Paramount with just a little breaking up of the facade. That green though ... wow Im not sure what they are thinking with that. Trying to match the streetlights or something?

True, but that means the plans are out there and can be duplicated!

It'd be nice to see them build a new building with quality materials and a sophisticated design... Rather than the suburbanite monstrosity they're trying to build. Where's the pride?

The Rault Center reno looks sharp. The Homewood Suites design is something else (bad). I am all for placing a hotel and residential there, but hopefully the final design will be improved.

It's hard to believe that by next Summer the whole block bounded by Loyola, Tulane, Rampart, and Gravier will be full of occupied buildings. That's not counting the redevelopment of the California Building across Tulane. Pretty amazing stuff.

It really is when you think about it. That whole area has basically been in decline since the Rault Center Fire and The HoJo sniper shootings. That was basically 50 years ago. It's becoming a brand new neighborhood.

Car2Go coming to NOLA. This is a big deal, the ability to go point to point and rent by the minute make it quite different than other car sharing companies.
