Only the "3rd mildest" December in Montreal. Mainly due to the very cold start.

‼️Historic December in #Canada! 🥵
➡️ Warmest ever recorded [sometimes by a huge margin] in Calgary, Regina, Saskatoon, Kenora, Churchill, Resolute, Cambridge Bay, Alert, etc.
➡️ 2nd warmest in Vancouver (0.05°C from its warmest) & Toronto.
➡️ 3rd warmest in Montreal & Winnipeg.
https://twitter.com/ThierryGooseBC?r...Ctwgr%5Eauthor

-4C today (wind chill of -9) and mainly cloudy. We did have some sunshine early in the day. I woke up at 11 so not sure before that but there was some sunshine until about noon.

Low of -7C (wind chill of -11) this morning.

The warmspot was Cumshewa Island, BC at 9.1C.

Warmest low was Herbert Island, BC at 7.5C.

Needless to say those are the warmest highs/lows reported this year.

December mean for my station was 3.9 with an avg high of 6.5 and avg low of 1.7.

For 2023, we ended up with 359 days above 0C. Not much cold weather at all, but also not much really hot weather either. We had only 6 days over 30, but 148 days over 20 and 85 days over 25.

The mean for the entire year was 10.7. Avg high was 16.3 and avg low was 6.3.

'Twas a splendid New Year's Day around Vancouver. Clear sunny morning and then some cloud in the afternoon.
Dry and calm all day. Noticeably colder now.

Monday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 7 C, the low was 4 C.

It's painfully cold this morning. The snow is even audibly crunchy when walking.

St. John's "painfully cold" = normal winter's morning in 98% of the ROC......

In Moncton it's -8C (windchill -14) at 8 AM and partly cloudy, going up to -3C this afternoon. I'm not complaining.

The birds are going crazy today. I think that means bad weather, like when the smoke from a wood stove blows down around the ground

A chilly -5 at 12pm. Not gonna warm up much more than this today but should be back to seasonal tomorrow.

Looking like quite a few systems will be passing through during the next week. Thursday looking like rain, but Friday looking like snow.

Beautiful pics, wish I was awake early enough to enjoy that nice sunny morning. That line of low-lying clouds over the North Shore hung around all day:

Thanks.

I would have missed it as well, but I bailed on my NYE plans last minute due to a nasty little stomach bug.

I'm staying in Mississauga for a few days as a vacation from work. Yesterday, I took a walk to a wooded area by a highway. The high was -1C and overcast, and the evening lighting was excellent.

Today, we hit 1C as a high, with overcast.

The high today was supposed to be 3 and I thought it would melt what we have on the ground but it's still here. So far this season we had a two skiffs of snow and then a 3cm wet snow cover that melted several hours later. Still haven't had anything stick to asphalt or concrete. I thought we'd see out the year without any proper snow this season but Dec. 31st at 10pm is when it started snowing and at 11 is when the snow started sticking. Mother Nature just couldn't let the year pass without it.

Kelowna was overcast and 3c, felt like a normal January day, a bit on the mild side but still felt cool.

Spent the holidays in the mountains skiing and relaxing, about 110cm of snow at the top of the mountain made for some great skiing conditions. Had some days with great visibility as well which offered some incredible photo opportunities.

There is snow in Toronto?

0C and cloudy today. Sun that was promised to us by EC was nowhere to be found. Up to 1C this evening. The ground is still completely bare. Even the smaller piles have melted. The only snow you see is at the parking lots.

Low of -5C (wind chill of -12) last night.

The warmspot was Estevan Point, BC at 10.3C.

Warmest low was Herbert Island, BC at 8.0C.

Both the high and low are the new yearly highest temperatures.

I think the only snow we have is residual from the last snowfall on the night of the 31st. It might be a half, or even a full centimetre at most at this point.

I noticed on Valermo Drive in South Etobicoke/Aldergrove, heading west towards Browns Line, the viewpoint focuses on those Rogers towers.

So is/was there actually snow in Toronto? Although literally bordering each other, Toronto is usually a touch warmer Mississauga. That's especially true as you head downtown. I'm guessing there was no snow downtown?

The photos had me do a double-take also. We didn't even have a sniff at snow last week.

There's snow downtown. It's mostly melted but still on car roofs, yards etc. We got about 1 inch tops.

Mississauga is further from the lake, slightly higher elevation so gets more snow. Plus Toronto Islands shelter downtown.

KW is a few hundred feet higher and much further from the lakes so is more affected by Lake Huron's snow belt.
