Agreed.

But Blackstar will report your post and the mods will get angry at you, and not him, for calling a spade a spade...

Does anyone know if the repairs have been completed for that porta potty fire from last spring? The last time I went by 99ave/108st the west gate/pavilion was unpaired and looked quite poor.

A pet peeve.

It's frustrating when those promoting us globally use assets/collateral that is outdated and does not reflect the current look or state of our fair city or region. This is so simple to correct and makes me wonder how an organization such as that, with that kind of budget cannot ensure their assets are the best they can be. It's like going into a meeting with a shirt that has not been ironed/pressed.

He's not wrong, how hard is it to have an up to date shot of the city when trying to market it for investment? That shot is what, 10 years old? It's not like figuring out the homeless situation which takes thoughtful, serious planning and implementation.
I think it's a valid complaint

stock photos. I doubt very much that this photo was taken by 'Edmonton Global' or anyone afflitated with them.

This is very much likely just a stock photo someone found and made use of, and like most normal people, especially outside of Edmonton, wouldn't really notice if there is a tower or two missing out of the very background of this image. 95% or more of this image is actually how it looks today from this very spot it was taken from.

I think the bigger issue I have with what Edmonton Global posted is "call us". Good luck with a passive approach. They should be pounding the pavement all day long, and one doesn't exactly get the sense that economic development groups in Edmonton are all that proactive.

Maybe they are hitting the pavement now, but from my past experience they've been reactive, not proactive.

Another issue with "call us" is that it hearkens back to the 20th century. Have they not heard of contacting them via email, texting or social media? And if they insist on phone calls, where the hell is the phone number in their ad?

I believe that this experience can be improved upon; what a way to welcome folks to our modern LRT from a bunch of the Downtown hotels.

This has become a dirty and crime infested city, with lack of law and order and cleanliness.
Dirty and dangerous downtown, while city council just watches this city turn into a garbage dump.
Good luck attracting businesses here.

Not to derail the topic, but a sixteen year old boy from McNally high school was recently murdered while standing at a bus stop. Senseless. Please consider a donation or prayer for this boy’s family

Looking good.

Goes back to the previous discussion, there is an immediate need to end the transit system being used as a homeless shelter through enforcement of basic laws that ask that people respect the public realm. There is also the responsibility of the COE to implement proper basic maintenance.

Then there is the longer term picture.
