And the cheesy late-90s "New York towers" at Bayview & Sheppard:

Nope, Mississauga. You should check a map before you respond in error.

Port Credit is in Mississauga, but that photo labelled as Port Credit is actually a shot of downtown Burlington.

I love the feel of DT Burlington. I looked at a house there that was at the very top of affordability range that was a very close walk to the theatre. Would have been cool vibes by the theatre and so close to Brant (Main St.) and the water.

I'm a suburban guy that doesn't like tract housing so mixing in some village/downtown/suburban elements in one would have been nice. But the front and back yards and small driveway made it unrealistic at this point for us. Any house that would improve upon that were simply out of reach for us.

However, if they do continue on building more condos there, I'm not sure I'd still feel the same 5 years from now. Lots of people there already hate the direction DT is heading in.

Soon enough Port Credit is going to look like that with the new massive development apparently going up on the water. Will actually be a bigger version of this scene.

You should make sure you fully comprehend what was said before you start waiving that foot around. 99 times out of 100 it will end up in your mouth around me.

By your rationale, It wasn't even labelled Port Credit, Mississauga.

The scale of the new proposals are getting too big and ubiquitous with the rest of the 905 and Toronto. Starting to see very tall towers with very high lot coverage. I like Bridgewater (the development wrapping up in the foreground) The tower is on the tall side but it occupies a small part of the overall development. The overall density should be the maximum for Burlington and only on select locations.

^ Mississauga has out-Houstoned Houston in that regard.

Ahem. There's a single row of stacked townhouses between "downtown" and "suburbia"

Mississauga may be building more condo apartments than the number of people it takes in every year so this is generations for now. This subdivision will be redeveloped unless it's protected.

Building almost exclusively high rise condos, like Mississauga is doing, only adds to the affordability issue. For a 2 bedroom unit in a high rise unit, you are paying hundreds of thousands of dollars more compared to a ground based unit.

^^Actually high-rises are generally more affordable because the land cost is split over many more units.

Also the New York Towers only look 90's but are built in 2003. Contemporaneous with crap like Pantages and Dundas Square, around when I first moved here from Vancouver with the impression that I stepped back in time architecturally. Things have changed greatly since.
