So if this starts early 2022, then it would probably be done by 2025-2026?

So, wow. That’s pretty amazing. The Waller Creek interplay is really intricate and beautiful. It’s hands down the best part of it. Bridges and overlooks and paths and tons of greenery. And the action at creek level explains a little bit better why the rest of the tower looks like it does thematically. A lot of those support columns at funky angles go all the way to the top. Not sure it makes me like the tower any more, but at least it makes more sense.

I weep for all the traffic on Red River, though. Not that there are any better options, but that paseo dumps all its traffic out onto a very congested two lane street. Gonna be hell getting out of there on weekdays.

Also, congrats everybody for being worthy of an anonymous leak! Pretty impressive IMO that we rate such a thorough info dump. We’re really coming up in the world!

Red River needs to be closed on the weekends or at least prevent uber/lyft from entering the area and create a drop-off pickup zone for them.

To have a building of that magnitude and height so close to nature, a lot of nature, is unique in itself. Most seemed to be surrounded by cement and other tall buildings with a few trees at best. You could almost step out of the front doors and feel like you are in a park in the burbs. Very cool!

The would make it the tallest building in Austin, in Texas, and in the Southern US. Also tallest building in a state capital city.

It depends. Atlanta's tallest is 1,040 feet to the spire - and Atlanta is a capital city.

This would make Texas only the 2nd state with two cities with supertalls. It would also make Austin the smallest metro/city with a supertall.

I’ve seen some lists put the BOA in Atlanta at 1,023 feet. I’ve also seen 1,060 used for it too. Those plus your 1,040 feet.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List..._United_States

I’m inclined to go with your number Kevin because you’re a perfectionist at getting building heights. Which makes you very trustworthy. But if BOA really is 1,023 feet then Austin’s building at 1,030 will have it beat by 7 feet which is so cool!

If both Austin and Dallas can get a supertall built, then TX will move ahead of CA with 3 cities. TBH, if the one in Austin gets built then CA and TX are tied, and TX would have the greater potential of adding a 3rd city to the ranks since SD, SJ, and OAK all have height limits or build short and Sacramento, Fresno, and Bakersfield don’t have the demand or also have serious height limits.

Yes...but, Dallas does not currently have an active supertall proposal. Someday, maybe.

Wow! I wish some of those computer model renderings were a little zoomed out. It is a little hard to piece together the overall context, but there are so many it can be done. This is the treatment this stretch of Waller Creek has always deserved!

I had always seen 1,023 also. The 1,040 foot height is listed on SkyscraperPage's database page, which cites the CTBUH's website.

The latest info makes it clear that 99 Red River/Block 190 is later Phase II project. So I'll split this thread into separate threads for each building.

I'm so conflicted about the angled columns. From up close they look really cool. Like you're in a forest. A modern "hypostyle hall" feel. But afar it makes the building look kinda junky in my opinion, especially the crown

It makes me think of matchsticks, or a jumble of reeds.

Part of what makes this interesting to me - but also a little maddening- is that their best ideas are about how to deal with the creek, and the podium; but higher up in the tower itself, something about it seems to lose coherence. And it just looks kinda weird.
