I love the Halifax harbour. A Halifax of 1,000,000+ would be sexy.

Also the Vic Suites has its distinctive red balconies installed. The amount of photos of that sight can almost pinpoint this photo to within a few days.

I can see my new neighbourhood in the photo so I'm quite happy to see how close to downtown I am. Only a fifteen minute walk to the clubs

EDIT: The photo name has Oct2011 in it so it from this month.

After looking at the website it is definitely worth the browse. Page "3" has some great shots from this month.

PS the dancing banana shown above is not an accurate description of my dancing skills

halifax can look like a mini-montreal; citadel hill is the mountain. inglis street is atwater avenue. barrington is sainte-catherine.

i could go on.

Their watermark is out of date. As others have pointed out the photo was clearly taken sometime during the last few weeks.

There's lots of great aerial pics of Halifax on that site if you go looking for them.

A couple of good ones:

Looking at the citadel from above makes me wonder though, it sure is a waste of space, why hasn't anything ever been done with the grassy fields around it? Plant some trees or something!

Now that's an impressive aerial of Halifax, beautiful natural setting too. Really shows the great depth of high-rises, I think most people are used to only seeing the flat view from the water. Will definitely boost Halifax place up a couple spots in my personal rankings of Canadian skylines.

I agree. I think some spaces around the Citadel could be used for amphitheatre type setups, public buildings with green roofs, etc., with very little impact on the heritage site. Unfortunately there's a very strong attitude in Halifax that good heritage preservation means letting things sit in whatever state they happen to be in. I hope there will be more appetite for adaptive reuse as more examples of good modern architecture are built.

Theres really not to many flat fields around the Citadel besides the Garrison grounds which is on the west slope of the hill and is used for concerts and events
The recent Metalica concert was held there, among a few other events

And there is actually quite a few trees on that side of the hill as well, they are used for shade in the summer a lot

Although im not sure how much of that side of the hill you can see in those pictures

But on a side note, green space is like holy land around here for some reason, or so it seems .

Nice pics of Halifax!..Halifax's skyline almost keeps up to Ottawa's, and Ottawa is almost three times the size as Halifax...Blame the height rule, and the large Urban sprawl in Ottawa...Anyways, Halifax looking good!

My guess is there are no trees their because they are preserving the history of the fort. I would also guess the trees were cleared to either build the fort or to provide better sightlines in case of an attack at the time when the fort was actually in service. So... based on that, in my opinion I don't see anything wrong with their being open space around the fort. Open space gives the fort part of it's presence, open space is nice too! Why must all space be filled? Calm down!
