In Québec, we used to have blue signage to indicate a toll highway. It ended in the 90s.

Is it just me or this wind turbine doesn't fit there at all?

It's been there for 17 years now so for most Torontonians it feels perfectly at home there.

Thanks for the info.

First time I see one in an urban area. I think its generally suggested to build them a couple metres (500+) away from any housing or roads due to safety or noise issues, that's why I was surprised with this one.

It pretty much is 500 meters away from the nearest dwelling. It was meant to educate the public about the technology which was fairly new at the time. It was the first wind turbine installed in a major North American urban city centre.

Exactly 500m to drive to it from the nearest resident but about 450 as the crow flies. Also I doubt a wind turbine would create any noise loud enough to be heard over ambient city sounds so the distance in a urban setting isn't much of a concern.

Also we should get used to seeing more use of wind turbines in urban centres.

I think it's more of a GTA thing. Haven't seen the blue signs anywhere else.

The Danforth should be lined with 6-8 storey buildings - it's sitting right on top of a subway line

Agreed, it's a bit of a letdown, more proof that if you build a subway it doesn't mean high density will follow.
