Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 10 C, the low was 4 C.

10 degrees and sunshine in January.

Now, that can happen to many places in Canada in January, as just shown in Ontario and Alberta, and Ontario may have the more southern sun, but something that can only happen on coastal BC in Canada is a sunny 10 degree day in January with no ice to melt, no frozen ground, no dirty snowbanks, lush green lawns, palm trees by the sea, and green gardens.

Everywhere has its positives.

14C here this morning. Just ignore that it's so dark it still feels like night, and there are moments where the rain is so heavy it's hard to breathe.

Daily high temps below 0 will return come Tuesday and so will ground frost and the potential for snow. And then it will reverse, and then switch back and so on and so on. The nature of the beast here.

Currently we sit at 4.9 which was our low in the past 24 hours. Our high here yesterday was 8.9.

We're living up to that reputation this afternoon. Walked to the mall for lunch and there were gusts that genuinely stopped me. But the rain has stopped, at least for a while.

The wind data's interesting to me. I would have expected NS to be way up near the top. But it's another way that the stereotypes don't match reality. NS gets big storms but they're once in a while events and the day-to-day norm isn't outside of what's usual in many other places, and temperature-wise it's a semi-marine influenced climate.

It's legitimately nice in Vancouver now and it's been so mild the grass is truly green, etc. The winters here also end early so there might not be much if any winter-like weather left. The main drawback here in winter isn't temperatures, it's the drizzle and darkness, and that's more or less Nov-Dec-Jan.

Yes, it was beautiful. I actually became a bit disoriented, I'd been used to so many of days of rain!

We were to the point where lighter overcast days seemed uncomfortably bright.

Another good one is when your camera switches to low light mode when you're taking a photo outside in what's supposed to be daytime.

Pearson recorded 22.8 cm of snowfall Wednesday night/Thrusday morning - but other areas of Toronto (North Scarborough) bot nailed with 43 cm.

Around my neck of the woods, I measured around 30.

-3 and some flurries today. Some of the snow will melt tomorrow with a high of 1 and sunshine, but we get a blast of arctic air after that A high of only -10 on Tuesday!

Was a beautiful today after the big snowstorm yesterday. I'm looking forward to the big Arctic cool down which seems be keep getting pushed out a couple more days over and over. It should be mean more cold sunny days like today. Feels weird saying that on this forum which is obsessed with who can be the least winter like. Winter can screw off in about March, but in the meantime, I want more of this.

-15C with a wind chill of -23 and sunny. Frigid!

Low of -16C (wind chill of -29) at noon. Weird having your lowest temperature of the day at 12PM but wind matters more than sun in that case.

The warmspot was Grates Cove, NFLD at 16.7C.

Warmest low was Agassiz, BC at 7.0C.

Not much to report, this ridge of high pressure sitting over us created a fair bit of inversion cloud through the valley, got some highs if 8c the other day, and 0c yesterday and much of the same today.

Still waiting on that first snow...but again the good news is the B.C Snow pack (minus some coastal areas) overall is looking healthy in the mountains.

Huge swing in temperatures. From 16C yesterday to -4C today. It's still windy, though nowhere near as bad, with blinding sun. Ground is mercifully dry and basically all snow is still gone so it's perfectly fine out walking around in terms of safety.
