It's a lot cooler today, but still very humid. I thought it would be a nice day to cut the grass, but I'm still drenched in sweat.

Longueuil has probably set a new record in Quebec with 30 days of 30°C or higher, in 2018. It's not over yet.

I was wondering the same thing, I thought I was familiar with Halifax but have never heard of an area called Kootenay.

Another nice day in Vancouver, it was about 23°C, wind 6 km/hr, sunny.

21C (humidex of 23) and sunny this afternoon. It is our coolest day since late June. Normally I would be pissed about such cool day in July/August but we've had plenty of heat so far so I'm fine with the coolish day.

Low of 16C this morning.

The warmspot was Shelburne Sandy Point, NS at 32.0C.

EDIT: Yesterday's low of 21.2C, was our 26th above 20C this year. Hopefully we can get to 30 when it's all said and done.

With all the atrocities weather wise for Montreal in 2017, a massive payback was in store and I can officially say Mother Nature has done the impossible and made up for it.

Warmest July/month ever: CHECK
Warmest August ever: CHECK

https://twitter.com/AndreMonette_MM

Let's make it 3 straight in September... I really believe we can do it!!!

https://twitter.com/AnthonyFarnell

The mean to beat for all-time warmest September is 18.8C.

I also believe this is a conservative forecast. We will probably not fall to 11C tonight and Burlington, VT has a 90F (32C) day for next Thursday.

Overcast, fog, muggy, and very uncomfortable. Still sweating from the gym a half hour ago.

Some of the places that have lurked empty on Water Street since our economy collapsed are starting to fill in again.

Sin City Clothing:

Yellowbelly Takeaway has taken up the former Velma's Traditional Newfoundland Foods:

And not a new space, but Wild Things (this is where I get all my kind of chummies, like keychains made with old Newfoundland coins, etc.) has finally repainted over the aged, unattractive mural that (while it used to be nice) hasn't been for years:

EDIT: the sun is giving it a try lol

It's just a weather station located between Purcells Cove and Herring Cove. It's basically right next to York Redoubt National Historic Site.

This article from Global Halifax explains the name:

https://globalnews.ca/news/476272/a-look-inside-kootenays-damage-control-training-facility/

Quote:
Hunt is a training officer at the Kootenay Damage Control Training Facility (DCTF).

This state-of-the-art facility is named after HMCS Kootenay, the Canadian warship that experienced the worst peace time disaster in the Canadian navy. In 1969 a deadly fire swept through the ship killing nine crew members and injuring at least 53, including most of the crew trained as firefighters.

No record breaker for us. I wonder if some sort of humidity record was broken? A lot of this summer has been sticky.

For August

For the Summer (so far)

It's definitely been the warmest summer recorded at the YYT official weather station. The official weather station was located in the warmer downtown until 1941, which is why we see the summers of 1883 and 1876 completely smoking this summer in regards to warm days above 24 or 25 degrees.

I've been watching a weather station situated downtown all summer. I haven't looked through the data with a fine-toothed comb for this month yet, but it looks like the average daily high there this month was 24.9 degrees, compared to 23.0 at YYT.

Refreshing 17C, low humidity and sunny in Moncton at 10AM. A high of 21C is expected later today.

This has been about as close to a perfect summer as I can remember. Moncton tends to have the best summer weather in the Maritimes (inland so no fog, but close enough to the coast that it doesn't get oppressive at times like Freddy), but despite that, this summer takes the cake.

The only complaint is that it's been pretty dry. There have been only seven days all summer with precipitation greater than 5mm. The lawns are pretty brown in places and the cinch bugs are having a field day........

Seven day forecast.

Based on Halifax's forecast we will likely see this record climb in September.

So far Moncton has had 46 days 25C or over, and 11 days 30C or over.

It's quite unusual for Halifax to have more hot days than Moncton (coastal vs inland) - weird.

There are four more 25C days predicted in the weekly forecast. we will likely end up with 55-58 days 25C or over - not bad............

The last two weeks have been awful in Alberta and the beginning of September is not looking any better. The last time the weather was nice, it was essentially ruined by all the smoke. Save for maybe the first weekend of the month, we basically lost summer for all of August. Brutal.

So, gym after work with jeddy1989 - we leave, go to the cafe, sit outside... after about 5 minutes, we're too cold and go in. Walking home, it was truly bitter. Felt like spring, not fall.

And now, although it's not near St. John's...
