I’m thinking it’s either 634 Portage or the 20 story apartment between the white ones off of Colony , I’m hoping 634 Portage.

634 Portage is not considered "downtown" does it? I think it starts around UofW area. I bet it has something to do with Wawa building on Broadway

I'd bet on the project on Colony.

Given the state of the office and retail markets downtown I am not expecting either of those to be built. Most likely a residential building or a hotel, I would imagine. But where?

St. Mary Ave. apartment building restarting is definitely top of mind for me as something I'd love to see when I open the paper in the morning. With interest rates ticking up again, who knows now, though. A Wawa building redevelopment announcement on Broadway would be amazing as well. One thing I'd love to see come from WFH is Canada Life building some residential on those god awful parking lots at its HQ as they're probably not as utilized as they once were.

RE-Wawanesa on Broadway, the redevelopment would be great, even better if complemented by that parking lot right on the corner being redeveloped too.

A Wawanesa redevelopment on Broadway (preferably one that fills the surface lots next door) would be huge. Between that and the proposed hotel redevelopment it will really go a long way to reshaping Broadway.

I wonder if Broadway will attract more activity like that given that it is a much more inviting environment than Portage, which is taking on a downright dystopic character between the traffic, the vacancies and the social problems.

Portage Avenue is unfortunately the new Main Street. The Revenue Canada building on Broadway will become a 140 room hotel if all plays out nicely.

this hotel conversion is really nice news....that building was famously designed without an architect.

I hope this means there is some business case to finish the true north hotel.

How did a building specified for a government department get built without an architect? Would it not require stamped plans for a building permit?

Pretty exciting news regarding the hotel on Broadway. This should liven up the street considerably.

The Manitoba municipal board approved the heavily opposed apartment development on Shaftesbury.

Good. The Municipal Board still needs to go, though.
