That is beautiful.

MOAR PLZ

This is Lafitte Projects, not St. Bernard. Right along the Lafitte Corridor. Looks like what is on this site currently are some ramshackle old warehouses... and they are preserving the houses that remain on the block. Win-win.

Ok maybe you guys can help me with this but I cant figure out what this project is referring to: the address doesn't really make any sense for a project of this size.

1025 Bienville St·Renovation (Structural) ·Ref Code: GUAEBL

Type: Renovation (Structural)

Applicant: Richard Gerage

Status: Application Submitted

Date Filed: 1/7/2015 12:09:56 PM

Closed: No

Description

go up 5 floors on entire existing structure, including shops, parking condominiums and 167 suite hotel utilizing existing license. Existing 48,235 square feet will be expanded into luxury mall with dining facilities on ground floor with condos, hotel and penthouse suites on upper floors of @250,000 square feet.

Only thing I can figure is this is for the parking lot where NOLA Athletic club is but that doesn't match the description really.

Update; ok this appears to be the property even though the address makes no sense.

Btw does anyone find it ironic quarter residents rallying for new police but then when projects like this which will help fight crime with just their sheer presence... they fight them tooth and nail?

Wow, I've gotta give mad props to Sean Meenan for going 12 rounds on this thing. A lot of people would just leave.

I'm looking forward to sitting on the patio with a mojito and some platanos fritos.

St. Bernard Project is a volunteer organization (mostly out-of-town groups and Ameircorps) that coordinates rebuild projects on houses- they started in St. Bernard, hence the name.

After reading the events of the meeting about the café, it looks like lawsuits will draw this project out for a long time.

It's hard to believe some would rather have an empty gas station next door than a thriving business.

We shall see... this one is more cut and dry than Tracage. Expect lawsuits.. but expect them to be dismissed quickly.

You should have gone to the meeting in April... its was just a few folks but man were they ugly. Some people just love to complain about things I guess.

I know Leo and hes quirky to say it kindly.

"The vibrations are also a concern. It will be loud. The impact of the vibrations. We see buildings in the French Quarter that are deteriorating. The one that we lost on Royal Street, a lot of people are saying that the vibrations from the street really didn't help."
I don't see French Quarter Citizens arguing to close the Quarter to auto and truck traffic which is far more of a problem than streetcars.

All old buildings fall apart without careful maintenance, especially in New Orleans where wind, water, and insects are constantly working to ruin buildings.

Crescent Rice Mill Building to become Condos

It looks like the Crescent Rice Mill Building in the quarter is set to become fancy condos. The address is: 517-531 Toulouse St.

http://nola.curbed.com/archives/2015...cey-condos.php

I wonder many square feet they're working with. The article says there will be 5 penthouses.

Actually they're doing just that.
