I drove back to Vancouver from Kelowna last night, and it was 1c and raining at the summit of the Coquihalla Highway. I've never seen that before in late December.

There is zero snow pack in the mountains this year.

Currently 3.4 degrees and rainy. The low was +0.8. The forecast actually has average to below average temperatures for the next couple weeks, might even snow.

It's miserable. Wet, windy, and cold.

-1C and partly cloudy currently in Moncton at 1 PM.

5 cm of snowfall yesterday. Enough to whiten the ground today and make it actually look like the holiday season. Increasingly over the last decade, we seem to get out first staying snows of the winter between Christmas and New years. This pattern is continuing.

The week ahead will be almost entirely sunny, with no further accumulation expected, but, temperatures will remain below freezing.

Was back in Toronto for the holidays. Foggy almost the entire time, and mild with off & on drizzle. Still felt Christmas-y:

Warm enough for gelato:

No snow here for new years.

Free hide-a-bed with no cushions. Slight urine smell.

Far too lazy to do mine yet, but my extremes were 31.6C in July and -17.8C in February.

I went for a 20km walk down Roncesvalles/Queen to The Well in a mostly cold drizzle then when I left the Well it was wet snow, turning to flurries through Kensington Market before abruptly stopping as I crossed Brunswick back up to the Annex before heading west back to High Park. Was I listening to Z103.5s top 103 countdown like I did in the mid 90s ha?

Anyway, a very wet mess at Queen and Spadina:

SHH would probably like Kensington Market more than the Well

Just looking at some pics from my family in Nelson. They were up in the mountains hiking. While it isn’t unheard of for the town / valley bottom to have a green Christmas, these pics were from 600 / 700 metres up in the mid elevations, and no snow! Now that is rare.

Dry, calm and mild. The cloud blanket broke up a bit today and we saw some blue sky and sunshine.

Sunday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 11 C, the low was 7 C.

Went to a new years party. At 1:30 am in the morning, I legitimately had a choice: take the free late night buses or walk 45 blocks (4-5 km). I put my head out of the ballroom, all hot and sweaty. I walked home. Something I only do during the summer, but I did it in the dead of winter because it was so balmy out there.

A chilly -6C with a light snowshower in Moncton at 4 PM.

I just got back from picking up my youngest son in Masstown NS (halfway point to Halifax) after visiting his girlfriend over the holidays. The drive was cloudy, but pleasant, with only a few snow flurries along the way. No accumulations on the roadway.

Very grim, overcast afternoon to begin 2024 after the early morning snowfall. The idiotic fireworks kept me awake 'til 4am. Just got back from a walk through High Park to Sunnyside Beach - omg is it ever ugly here!

December in Victoria was mild but boring. Following numbers are from Gonzales weather station which is the closest major station to downtown - the airport is about 25 km away and quite different in terms of precipitations and temps.

Average high for December 9.3, average low 6.1. Also thus far this fall/winter no over night lows below zero.

2023 was mild, but it was a cold spring and a moderate summer, no real heat.

2023 Victoria:

Number of days where the high was below 0 = zero.
Number of days where the high was below 5 = 9 days.
Number of days with a low below 0 = 7, 2 in January and 5 in February.
Extreme low -4.9 C on Feb 24, extreme high 32.5 on August 14.
