Haven't heard anything in quite a while. It's been downsized many times. The last article I saw about it quoted the developer as saying it's now a 4-storey, large footprint building. They might have cancelled all together.

That sucks. They might as well not build it tho, because honestly a 4 story large footprint building is just a waste of space. Wait until someone has the funds to build a building that can serve as a downtown gateway, like the originally proposed. Is there any other large proposed projects that this has happened to?

Infill is better than an empty lot. A large-scale four story building would actually be a pretty good use for the land, in my opinion. I know we'd all like to see higher buildings, but density should be the real objective.

I'm all for density, but where it's in such a prominent location, higher should be better too.

Who are the architects behind FiveFive? It reminds me a lot of the MaryAnn being built on Clyde Street in Halifax... similar scale, massing, and variety of colours.

http://www.fivefive.ca/
There is also a video: http://vimeo.com/78272820
Their website says there will be 10,000 sq. ft. of retail space as well as underground parking.
It was announced in the T&T back in april.

The architects are Architects4. It will be built by Acadian Construction and it's a Spataro Holdings project (the ones who also built Bella Casa in Riverview).

I saw some equipment at the power sub-station on Assumption in front of the Frenchy's/old Co op building.

Are they removing/moving it?

They have been working on it for well over a month. Seems to me they are removing it.

That's great! Such a prime location, hopefully something is in the works.

I don't know why it was set up there in the first place, or why Assumption blvd has those high tension electrical lines all along its north side. What were they thinking.

Museum to display mini locomotive
Wednesday, December 04, 2013
Times & Transcript
By: Alan Cochrane

It was built as a labour of love and a big hit with the crowds downtown during the 1980s, and now Reg Ward's restored miniature steam locomotive will become a centrepiece exhibit when the new Transportation Discovery Centre opens next spring.

'When we were building this train back in 1980, we often said that one day it would be a museum piece, and he would be happy to know that it is finally here,' Pierre Babineau said yesterday as the shiny black steam engine was unloaded from a flatbed tow truck and pushed into a storage room at the Moncton Museum. It will be kept in storage until construction of the new Resurgo Place is completed, and be set up as a main exhibit in time for the grand opening next spring.

Lawren Campbell, heritage and culture co-ordinator for the City of Moncton, said the miniature train is an important piece of the city's history and will be part of an exhibit that showcases not only the machines that helped put Moncton on the map but the people who worked on them.

The article states that the opening of the Transportation Discovery Centre and the reopening of the Moncton Museum will now be sometime in April. It was supposed to have been open by now, but I suppose it doesn't matter too much since we are currently in the winter doldrums. I look forward to seeing the final result of the project…...

That project looks to be turning out nice. I always thought that parking lot across the street would be a great location for a park. Like a scaled down version of Victoria park.

There is construction going on in the same building as Starbucks on main. Looks like something is moving in.

Just a FYI. I've been trying to win that $50M LottoMax thing. My goal is to build a similar 12 story condo on the parking lot piece of land behind the Marriot, next to Blue Cross.

I'll be occupying the whole top floor and selling the other floors as 2 separate units. Each unit will be about 2000sqft. Main floor will something retail. I expect this thing to cost me ~$25M. I'll even put another $5M a side for unexpected whatevers.

This is what is planned for the old "Orchard Hill" condominium site at 850 St George Blvd across from Centennial Park.

Note that there is a "phase 1" and a "phase 2" to this project. The phase 2 building (pictured above) will be 5 stories. In the T&T, it was previously reported that phase 1 will be 4 stories.
