I have to disagree with this take. It will not be scaled down, and the materials will not be cheaper. It will go ahead as planned.

It's crazy to think some people will be waking up to the same views roughly that you get from the CN Towers main observation levels.

Meh. It's boring being that high. You won't see much unless you stand right at the window and look down. Looking down, everything else besides roofs will be microscopic. Microscopic is a poor scale to check out the topless UofT students sunbathing at the Village by the Grange pool. (Never saw it for myself. Possibly just an urban legend for Bay Street office dwellers. I lost myself many times staring out office windows from all over downtown Toronto so the opportunity to voyeur was there. )

The one thing I'm curious about is the cloud ceiling at that height. It's really bad at around 200 to 250 metres in the winter months which makes me think that you may be above it more often than in it from the Sky penthouse.

It was in the clouds most of the day 2 days ago. That being said, imagine the views on foggy days from those units.

I, for one, would never get bored of the view up there. Sure, you can't perv out on topless college girls if that's your thing. But the views across the lake, especially during the summer with Thunderstorms travelling across the lake would be worth the high price tags of the units.

Only a lucky few can wake up to views similar to this.

I feel like it would be a little boring in the daytime but an amazing lightshow after dark. Although as hard as it might be for people around here to believe, there are some people who are more interested in seeing natural geography than city views and they'd love the commanding views of the lake and islands. Something that will be much more prominent here than say, The One.

Pretty epic... or "Meh" as whipper would say... aerial shot from the Toronto Islands all the way to North York and beyond. From a post last month by davidhucker on reddit last month.

The distance from the waterfront skyline to the end of the North York skyline just above the middle of the photo, is about 47 km (nearly 30 miles).

Maldive, did you calculate the distance from the waterfront to northern North York (i.e. Steeles)? It is not anywhere near 47 km.

Agree. Its just screaming to be filled in. Thankfully, its looking increasingly likely that the next major office tower in Canada to announce construction will be The Hub.

Looking down from a much, much higher elevation than 300 metres off the ground. Of course, you would miss the point that the views from Sky's penthouse is comparable 99% of the time to the views of a middle aisle seat in a wide body. To remind you that it's open sky or yellowish clouds (in Toronto) from the middle aisle seat.

Sure sublet space has been taken off the market resulting in plummeting vacancy rates driven by back to the office mandates. Still, off the top of my head, every major office tower built in Toronto has been anchored by a bank or accounting firm. We're out of accounting firms and the banks are sitting on a ton of new space with economic uncertainty on the horizon. Real Estate development is massive for retail and investment operations in Toronto. That's one of the driving forces for back to the office mandates. It's not about worker efficiencies. From what I hear, most senior meetings are still conducted virtually over having managers/directors run around the whole city to different buildings and even group meetings are often virtual so a big part of daily collaboration is still virtual post pandemic even at the office. The mandates are about reversing declining real estate values. Point being, those mandates will eventually be overturned. ( but, probably not for a long time with Bay Street made up of queens and drones. Once head leases expire than it favours the queens)
