This 8 story development is moving along well. Came it across on a long walk today.

When I walked by the site today the construction crane was being assembled. The building will be 14 stories with 180 units (for those who don't already know!). I've been walking in this area for many years. Today I was not certain where I was with all of the changes to landmarks like the gasoline station that occupied the site for many years.

Note the vertical plant wall next to the big dig. There won't be much sunlight there when the building is complete!

timbad - thanks for pointing out a thread was made for this one.

I usually don't trespass on construction sites but in this instance the gate was open & no one was around so I got a much better picture by getting close to the hole in the ground.

It amazes me as to how many pictures you take of different sites! You certainly get around the city a lot.

San Francisco officials are seeking proposals from developers to build a 19-story housing development atop a newly retrofitted fire station, a plan that could deliver roughly 100,000 square feet of new residential space to the city.

Mayor London Breed and supervisor Aaron Peskin said Wednesday that developers have the chance to build market-rate housing above Fire Station 13 as part of a public-private partnership. The project is located at 530 Sansome Street in the Jackson Square neighborhood . . . .

The city said Station 13's operations would move to a temporary location during the site's development phase. The city's Fire Commission will review the development plan before ceding final approvals to Breed and San Francisco's board of supervisors.

Affordable housing fees, paid by the project's developer, would go to funding more than 50 low-income units at nearby 772 Pacific Avenue in Chinatown, as well as toward preserving popular dim-sum spot New Asia Restaurant, according to the city . . . .

It's about time something was proposed for that neck of the woods! Still sad 555 Washington never made it (https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/article/S-F-supes-knock-down-plan-for-new-condo-tower-3266917.php, but 19 stories of market rate + the proposed hotel literally next door could liven up the immediate area a bit.

Also interesting that with Peskin involved from the beginning, THD can't throw their usual hissy fit (although I also suspect 19 floors is a number that Peskin knows nobody will lose views over).

Why is the city extorting funds to give to select private businesses (a dim sum restaurant in this case). Corruption is straight up in your face in SF and nobody does anything about it.
