The mayor of Ottawa says he got verbal confirmation from Sohi's office that federal funding is a-go for Phase 2 of Ottawa's LRT and a formal agreement is coming in the next few weeks. Provincial funding is already secured.

Ahead of tonight's critical Hamilton council vote for B-Line LRT the province has announced it'll fund the LRT to Eastgate. Council was playing hardball with Queen's Park and we won, which will surely get majority of council approval for tonight.

Good news for the Ham! And to think that just last week a city of the same size in this country scraped a BRT plan, and has an existing Mickey Mouse system... Goes to show that when there's a will, there's a way.

I hope so, there is such an anti-LRT mentality in the Hammer where nothing would surprise me.

Hamilton council session is happening and based on the comments Hamilton's EA for the B-Line LRT will PASS, one of the most vocal opponent (Chad Collins) against the LRT said he'll vote in favour of the EA.

I am happy for Hamilton, but I have said before, Hamilton had a lot opportunity to improve transit even before this LRT, and they never did. The indifference towards transit in Hamilton is unacceptable. The City of Hamilton cannot continue to starve HSR of funding or even this LRT will be for naught.

Metrolinx will buy 62 cars from Alstom for Toronto Eglinton/Finch lines as well as Mississauga (Hurontario).

Because they are bigger rail cars, they don't have to buy as many as if they bought from Bombardier.

It sounds like the intent is to operate them on the Finch and Hurontario line, but if Bombardier doesn't come through in time for Eglinton they will shift them there.
