I currently take the bus to Coquitlam Centre Station every day, and the last thing that whole area needs is even more parking. What they should really do is join up with the Coquitlam Centre Mall and turn some of that parking into a park-and-ride.
Take a look at the satellite view. See those two L-shaped parking lots on the north side of the Barnet Highway? Those rarely have any cars in them, why can't TransLink lease some of that space instead of putting down even more pavement?
Edit: Well, I see that the story is actually about the Douglas-LaFarge station, but still. There's loads parking already there.
