I haven’t really been paying close attention to off season stuff. But I must say I’m excited for hockey to be back.

Personally, I used to be way more into the team, but that was because I had tsn radio to listen to to get some takes on the team. Listened damn near every day.

I thought there might be some cup finals hangover for the Oilers but was not expecting a 6-0 rout.

Great game for the Jets to open the season...Helle with the S/O, KC sets the record for most consecutive seasons (7) scoring opening game goals.

Definitely a surprise. I was expecting the oilers to tear us a new one. I saw somewhere that Skinner had a 6-0-1 record against the Jets.. So much for that I guess

Also Kupari might have a decent year. No goals in 70 games is wild. Do we think he just continues to be snakebitten or does he have a good year? Sometimes all it takes is one to get it going.. he's looked good lately

I don't understand how the Jets would have there home opener on the same night as a Bomber home game. Winnipeg is the only NHL market in Canada where the CFL still rules. I realize that the Jets have to work within a much larger NHL schedule, but they really need to be conscious of this. It is a major conflic and the Jets will be the losers.

The CFL schedule was out months before the NHL schedule. It would be in the Jets best interest to avoid three dates, one regular season and two possible playoffs dates. 30000 sports fans will choose the Bombers over the Jets tomorrow night.

The NHL makes the schedule, not the Jets. Sure the Jets can give preferred dates and potential conflicts but the NHL makes the final decision on scheduling.

Tomorrows Bomber game is sold out. Playoff game will be on Nov 2 or 9 at 5:30pm. Likely the 9th for the Western Final.

Jets vs Dallas on the 9th at 6pm in Winnipeg.

For a game against an original six team I'd still expect a good crowd. Maybe not a sell-out, but having the Black Hawks and last year's rookie phenom Conner Bedard in the building will attract attention.

The Oilers have Pavelec-style goaltending. Until they find a good goalie, they will never be champions. It can be argued they got lucky this spring.

There's about 500 tickets left for the home opener tonight. Probably 1000 left for thanksgiving sunday game. Not too shabby. I expect a slow pick-up just like last year.

We will recover from the slump of poor attendance. It just takes time, with the new projects coming to the core. I'm positive we will be heading in the right direction. Tonight should be fun. Go Jets and Go Bombers!

Apparently, according to Mike McIntyre, CLC was nearly sold out along with a sold out PA Stadium.

Just curious.
Tonight's attendance.... yikes.

What was the attendance? I tried to find it, but I could not. I was offered a pair of tickets, but I had a Thanksgiving dinner at the in-laws.

Same excuse as everyone else, I bet.

I believe it was below 13,000. 2,500 tickets unsold.

No different than last year, or the last few years. As soon as the Bombers season is over/finish the playoffs/win the Grey Cup, people will be attending more Jets games.

Of course the upcoming match ups with the Penguins and the Leafs will definitely draw more, if not, sold out the arena.

To find the attendance for any NHL game, go to NHL.com; click on "Event Summary" of the game you are interested in and you will have access to the official event summary produced by the NHL. Lots of stats for those data nerds.

Winnipeg Jets see modest rise in sales of season tickets over previous year

500 more season tickets bring subscriber base to 10,000;more work to do, club says

I thought this article pointed out a number of valid points in regards to the Jets current campaign to raise season ticket numbers. It seems like the Jets have been responsive to customer's demands for an improved game experience, and the season-long presence of some extra police in the area will hopefully dull some fan's fears (justified or not) of being downtown at night.

I also think it struck the right balance of pointing out that things have improved, but it's not "job done" just yet.

I haven't been to a home game this season; has anyone here been to one of the first two home games? Has the game experience improved?
