Agree, lots of density! Hope that makes it easier to reach critical mass in terms of more retail (post-virus world...), which will draw more people, and then you get that upward spiral effect of everything feeding off each other.

I don't even recognize some of these areas. Just a suggestion could you add the location too?

The city is changing quickly! And a lot of the photos don't give much context. Good idea.

I went through and edited my last two big photo posts to add location. Didn't go through the trouble of looking up actual addresses, but I added the formal neighborhood to each, and added an informal neighborhood or significant intersection where relevant. Hopefully that's helpful!

Thanks for that upload. I recall that mansion on Lowry Hill that the owners want to turn into 3 townhouses, and they want to preserve it. So what was there when the Summit Towers were built? I used to live at 316 Oak Grove Street and I used to walk over the hill at night to work at the Las Salle Convalescent Home on Las Salle Avenue. Way back in the early 70's.

I was just talking with someone the other day about Nye's. A place my coworkers and I sometimes went to. This bar was voted best in America a little over a decade ago. There was a proposal to build a highrise but it got rejected due to neighbors etc. Nimby's. However the redevelopment that occurred turned out pretty decently. https://www.google.com/search?q=nyes...3oRmpaHKSKFQSM Here's the article from Esquire about best bar in America. https://www.esquire.com/food-drink/b...6bestbars-147/

I agree. The way they tied the new building in with the two historic buildings is well done.

I really like the new Public Office Building. I used to work in City Hall for 2 decades and it will be strange not to see that parking ramp in that location. The new building really will be an asset to the entire Government Center plaza.

You're welcome. I particularly like that all glass condo on the back side of the Sculpture Garden.

That apartment building at 2nd & 2nd is just, ugh! Looks like a giant parking ramp from the seventies.

Kingfield’s Center for Performing Arts is celebrating its 25th anniversary by breaking ground on an expansion that will allow for new programming and support services for local artists and the surrounding community.

Its five-story, 23,129-square-foot addition, unveiled in spring 2019, will occupy the seven-space parking lot directly west of the existing building and will nearly double the center’s rentable square footage. The structure will include two ground-floor, 100-seat performance spaces, a new lobby and walkways connecting the addition with the existing building, which will remain intact.

I'm still not sure about the Asher. Strange lot that it is on. Could have been a nice public plaza but at the same time with amount of traffic on Lake and Lagoon probably not so much. I wonder if it it going to have any retail on the ground floor. Overall it's a unique property and they've done a good job with the design. I hope the outside lighting scheme will really enhance the prominent location.

Kind of an odd location for a hotel. I suppose it might work for both the Target Center and Target Field.

Have they started this project yet? Anyone have any news?

https://www.southwestjournal.com/new...n-towers-plan/

A revised proposal to expand Calhoun Towers calls for adding a 26-story apartment tower and a cluster of three smaller apartment buildings to the 5.4-acre complex in West Calhoun — replacing earlier plans to build two 20-plus-story towers and two mid-sized buildings on the site.
