Centennial Yards Company has filed plans with the city for a Special Use Permit to start building a 127-room hotel and retail space at 88 Elliott St., part of the former Gulch’s western boundary in the shadow of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

As a next step, the hotel project is scheduled to come before the Atlanta City Council at its regular meeting Tuesday.

Fantastic that this is moving forward. It's a weird little plot of land, and this will also really help with walkability from the stadium/convention area to Castleberry Hill and towards Garnett MARTA station.

It appears the parking garage has a nice buffer between it and the railroad tracks, which would preserve space for a future commuter rail station or high speed rail station in that area. I also see space next to the MARTA station where they could add stairs and a south entrance to the station. I hope they plan on adding a MARTA entrance on that side- it would be very easy to open that wall and access the upper mezzanine of the station.

"Entertainment District Podium Site B (COM) (CO)
Site B podium is a two (2) story podium with storage (S-2) and accessory business (B) occupancy areas. Site B is a continuation of the larger elevated plaza structure for buildings A,B,C and D (separately issued)."

^Yes, it's under construction already but happening in pieces under a variety of different planning and building permits.

I'm not 100% sure but I think the latest permit is for the building on the left:

Ahh ok. Figured they would have had all the permitting out of the way already, but i guess that makes sense. The entertainment district is moving along pretty quickly. Looks like they're work on the second floor of the parking deck from images ive seen on instagram.

Based on the site plan on https://centennialyards.com/location/ 'Site B' appears to be the entirety of the entertainment district, however the plot of land between Mitchel and MLK next to the Federal building is also marked as 'Site B'. I'm guessing this permit is only for this existing project, and nothing new. Would be exciting if they had a new node to announce.

I think this will finally do for Downtown what Colony Square did for Midtown. It should spawn a lot of other development in the coming decades.
