I think I prefer this over even the MNP tower. Thanks for the update.

Anyone getting almost a new formalist vibe from this?

I think I still prefer the MNP just a little bit, but this one is great, I agree. And I can see what you mean by a 'new formalist' vibe. This will accentuate the Howe Street Canyon.....
Big City Vibes .... what Vancouver needs in the CBD. Just wish it could have been 38 or 40 storeys storeys tall, my only reservation. {"curse you, viewcone policies, grrrrr"}

The sales brochure says a 9-storey building is permitted there. I think that would obscure some of the western side of this tower and the interesting architectural detail there.

Love this tower! The glass looks great. It is nice when a tower comes out so close to its renders. Our recent batch of office towers have all been nice additions to the city.

I appreciate what the fins and glass can do for the overall design. It can look so different based on distance or time of day. The same goes for the Casino next to BC Place

Yes. It contributes to that "canyon" feeling developing on Howe in the two blocks north of Georgia, and enhances the very disciplined, architectural linearity of Howe St.
Futher up from Georgia north, Howe goes Past The Four Seasons, the Georgia residences opposite, and soon, this. There are several blocks of smart buildings on Howe.
Howe Street developing a true "big city" feeling. {a busy one way CBD street and not even the main drag)... THE EXCHANGE is elemental- perhaps to be the fulcrum- of all this.
(@officedweller: do you know how many more floors to go. Getting ready to top out? Thanx)

Do you or anyone have a scan of that sales brochure? Or is there any chance something taller, maybe just as tall or even taller than The Exchange could be built there?

Its such a waste of prime space and it would be silly if a measly 9 storey building is built on what little prime downtown land that we have...

It would be such an inefficient use of space with tiny floorplates (core + elevators) to build 35 stories on that site.

It's too narrow, as Jebby said, to put a tall building in there, and it would probably look jarring next to The Exchange.
Me, I'd love to see some sort of 'people-place', maybe a glassed-in atrium or laneway, à la Melbourne, full of people, light, and life. (not possible, I know, but one can dream) ...
