Hmm ... I trust that the cheque is in the mail for the use of my postcard in that story!

Does that make you happy? Is that what you have been longing to hear? I get the feeling that you are actively hoping to see more people here bitch and complain about downtown. You seem to be just one of "those" people, based on your previous posts regarding this subject. Perhaps you should permanently high-tail it to Toronto since that is your urban oasis paradise that this city will never live up to by your standards. Some of us here actually do care and want the best for all parts of this city.

JDE: Wolseley, River Heights, Glenelm, Osbourne Village, Riverview etc. are not the burbs, they are part of the city. All great places to live close to everything.

City planners have no control of what businesses open or close - market conditions do.
If only that was true (IKEA/Seasons of Tuxedo).

development downtown

Sorry guys I am confused , what exactly is all the doom and gloom about which cancelled project downtown? i know d condo, alt , glasshouse 1, heritage landing, wcc, wcc hotel . mpi lots are likely a go with toronto company plans ( 36 story whatever to be revealed) having a good chance of succeeding. the only thing that has been cancelled to my knowledge is the second glasshouse tower, still quite abit of positive news I would say!

I agree pegcityboy...I don't really understand all the doom and gloom regarding downtown either. As far as I can tell there are way more positives than negatives at this point. It was only a matter of time until IMAX closed (kind of surprised it stayed open for as long as it did) and the Bay has been rumoured to be closing for a few years now. This isn't breaking news guys...there's no need to be overly dramatic. And I do love the Bay so it would be heartbreaking but I still feel good about the future of our downtown.

No, not in the least little bit. What would be the point in that? And what makes you feel that way about me, because I'm a realist?

Pretty presumptuous of you as you know nothing about me.

Yes I do care about this city, just because I have been in more than one city doesn't change that.

Just to clear it up, I don't give a hot damn what you think or presume to know about me.

Most of your posts are extremely negative, and dare I say "whiny" when it comes to downtown. You don't seem to share in any positive momentum many of us do, and it shows in your posts. So unless you are the complete opposite of this off the internet, this is what I'm basing my opinion on. You have also stated previously that Winnipeg was a "hole" a while back in one of your posts and I don't find that appropriate. Sorry but that is how I have seen it.

Again, see my response above to clarify this.

I don't mean to offend you, but I just stated my opinion. And for the record, I also don't give a hot damn what you think or presume to know regarding what you think I know about you. It's an internet forum, no need to take my opinion for gospel

Anyways, sorry for the OT. Riverman may continue to debate this, but I'm done with it.

I think technically it was CenterVenture that established the downtown zones. That said, currently all the emphasis is on the SHED and making sure that takes flight even to the determinate of the other zones.

If you think looking at an issue critically is being "whiny" than I hope you never have to make an important decision.

As Jack said, some people just can't handle the truth, a few people don't seem to be able to differentiate between being a realist and negativity.

Some realists don't seem to be able to do anything to improve things. I'm tired of hearing 50+ men complain that things suck while doing nothing to change that. Do something to make things better, or shut up.

I make things better for people, for a living. Now get back to protesting.

Then don't get pissy if we disagree with your opinions or call you out on negative attitudes.

Just so everyone realizes, there never officially was a second Glasshouse Tower. It was conceptualized but squashed before the project ever started. It was never a real thing that was marketed and failed.

So... Back to retail.

You can go to Hanford Drewitt for men's clothing... Corner of Carlton and Broadway -- not too far, but a little more expensive than The Bay.

And, though it was rather short lived, Unfold Apparel was rather good for men's clothing -- again, a bit more expensive than The Bay. Too bad it didn't last long.

Does anyone have any recommendation for Men's business/business casual clothing?
