No alternate routes to Vancouver and it seems as though the railroads have also been affected.
Just what we need now with the current shipping issues, shortages of products, inflation and the Christmas shopping season. It should be interesting to see how fast the highways and railroads can be reopened.
Yeah… a lack of redundancy is a common thread throughout Canada.
I wanted to say the railway is different, but, the fact that CN was sending their container trains through Northern ON via ONR kinda shows there are lots of failure points and not many good solutions.

What about Highway 3?
Highway 3 is closed at Sunshine Valley east of Hope due to a mudslide.

Vancouver is not on the ocean but Quebec City is.
Most importantly, fixing Coquihalla Pass will be a serious pain.
How about B.C.-2 and B.C.-49 in Fort St John area then? Or is it simply too far a detour at that point?
Actually, what about Yellowhead Highway, Cariboo Highway between Prince George and B.C.-99 then B.C.-99 (though 99 between Whistler and 97 may be too substandard for trucks to use)?

TMX was also shut down.
I expect the Port at Prince Rupert may become busier.

The problem is that west of Kamloops everything funnels into a small area. There is few ways out of the lower mainland that have not been effected. Highway 3 may be the first open. Divert up through Kelowna. the Coq will be a priority. I would suspect there are crews on the Coq today starting to find ways to open the road. there may be temp route changes or gravel sections but I think the Coq can be open in a couple of weeks. Even with sections missing. the 202 bridge can be reopened in a few weeks. the repairs will not look pretty but it can be opened.

I didn't think it was possible to send trains via the ONR rail across the country. The line has been removed just west of Hearst.
