Jobs are not tracked by Census block or tract, but you can map them using their On the Map function. Essentially, this map shows the number of employees by business, geo-referenced to addresses. It's kind of scary in a "big brother" sort of way.

The tallest, dubbed Tower C, would soar to 1,661 feet with 60 stories that contain 300 residential units and a hotel. Tower B would have 57 stories and up to 500 residential units. Tower A would have 39 stories and up to 500 units.

I am thrilled to see this development move forward. I'm a little befuddled at the 1,661 feet? Perhaps the writer meant 1,061 feet. At 60 stories with 15 feet floor height (very generous for residential) and decorative top, that is possible. That would still qualify as Atlanta's tallest.

The elevations suggest the tallest is around the height or slightly shorter than One Atlantic Center, to it's left, which is around 820 ft.

1,661 feet

I'm 99% sure that the 1,661 feet figure is indicative of the building's height above sea level.

While I don't have the most accurate topographic map of the area, the best info I could dig up says the site is about 950' above sea level. That would mean the building is around 700 feet tall which seems about right when looking at the elevation that has been provided.

Ahhh that would make a lot of sense.

That would be absolutely absurd. I agree with others, they're using ASL height then slapping the tower stop it. That's just terrible journalism and research that's almost nonexistent.

What would be absolutely absurd?

A 60 story tower being 1,661 feet tall. That is absurd.

I agree. Hence me saying, "I am befuddled at 1,661 feet". I then go on to say perhaps the writer meant 1061. I have no idea what the writer of the article saw when looking at the renderings. While I still doubt the 1061 feet, I proceeded to come up with a possibility...not a likelihood...of how 1061 feet could be achieved.

I feel that L.ARCH gave a valid explanation for how they could have come up with such a height. It could be a simple error on the writer's part and should have been better explained in the article.

I agree Dale. In the race to be FIRST, there was no regard to be RIGHT. The height has now been removed from the article.

I would think an unfortunate numerical typo. Still, something basic that should have been proof read.

The 4-acre property is a parking lot that was being leased to Grady Memorial. Walton Communities would enter a ground lease with MARTA. Strange that it was reported to be a new tallest for Atlanta. Either way these three look great and will strengthen the Midtown skyline.

Tower B looks hideous, at least from that side view, the big "pregger" belly hanging off to the side.

Maybe the wider, stepped down structure that appears as the pregnant Tower B is actually Tower A. Looks to be about 20-stories shorter. And, if you take that away, it looks almost like a twin to the tallest Tower C. Or, maybe it is all one building but the lower portion is supposed to relate to the shortest Tower A. Just an observation.
