I can't speak French, but I can read French reasonably well. Yes, it's funny that the English media doesn't report on these things too. I guess they are too busy tilting at social justice windmills.........

If someone can find a story angle whereby the way the lines on the highway are painted constitutes oppression for someone somewhere, then I'm sure you'd get coverage!

(Note that I didn't specify anything about the "someone". I am an equal opportunity cynic.)

Then again, my major source of news on QC-185 is Info Dimanche (and occasionally, TVA CIMT-CHAU), so I wouldn’t have been able to think of that angle, at all.

Autoroute 85 doesn't get that much coverage in the Quebec "national" media either. Certainly not like the construction and opening of the four-lane highway between Quebec City and Saguenay got.

Though I do expect that once all of the A-85 is open, that will generate substantial coverage everywhere.

Even from the Toronto-based national Anglo-Canadian media.

An extension in the middle of "nowhere" isn't news to Toronto, but a freeway that just got connected to even more freeway is. Kinda like when they finally connected a road across Canada.

If you're referring to the recent twinning of NB-11, it goes to northern NB, not to PEI.

The highway splits from NB-15 (which does go to PEI) at Shediac.

Speaking of that highway… both 4 lanes are apparently opened from km 86 to km 80.5. The rest will be next year…

...and here I was expecting the opening of the next extension of Highway 69/400 in Ontario to be trumpeted on the front page of the Toronto Star in the same font used to announce the end of WWII in Europe.

The A-19 extension between Laval and Bois-des-Filion will start this fall. 9km of new highway to complete the network between the A-640 and the A-440. Laval will now be served by 4 highways that will link the A-440 to the A-640.

The project consists of,

• 3 lanes highway in both direction between the A-440 and the A-640, including lanes reserved for buses, electric vehicles and carpooling
• 4 new interchanges
• park-and-ride with 690 spaces and a terminus in the northeast quadrant of the Highway 19 and Highway 640 interchange
• redeveloped service roads (in both directions) between boulevard Saint-Martin Est and highway 440.
