Just one of the many things that is so attractive about the Wasatch Front is it's ability to double for sooo many cosmetically varied, different locations, and yet be so close and convenient to a major airport. Competitors such as Louisiana, No. Carolina, New Mexico etc. just can't compete with the abundance of convenient, varied locals and jaw dropping scenery that we have.

This will also go along way to firming up the intense interest that Hollywood is now showing toward the St. George area. Not only will Salt Lake become a much bigger filming mecca, but also St. George with it's new airport, major studio facilities under development, mild climate, and 'hop skip and a jump' distance from So. Cal. Utah in general will soon easily occupy a top 3 position in U.S. film production.

Blaze and Metro, are you as excited as I am!?!?

What if Earl Holding were to build some sort of development related to the film industry on his parking lot. Something along these lines could be a great southern anchor for Main Street!

Lol. That's the one. The Francis A. Madsen Building. I too had too many horrible classes there. It was a building that I was always happy to leave.

These are MY pics

I took them today from the 1300 South viaduct, because it was great lighting for what I wanted, but they uploaded kinda blurry but oh well

Look in the lower left corner, CCC TOWER 1 is FINALLY peeking into the skyline!

This is our ENTIRE skyline, lacking as it is, but we're filling it up, so don't worry

Comments, anyone?

It's a shame that 222 doesn't stick out from that angle.

Thats the idea that ive got out of it. I've never heard it called that before. But i was under the impression that they were tearing down all of the business buildings up the CRCC, including the two business towers.

Thanks Steven (and jmonkey); the architecture of those business buildings don't offend me, even though they come across as very 1950's and boring today. I'd imagine (well, I know, actually) that they would have to undergo extensive renovations inside to get them to be more useful for 21st Century business classes. Both FAMB and its neighbor to the north lack the infrastructure connections for more computers and computer labs than are already in them (not many), the classrooms are ill-heated/cooled, and they're less comfortable than modern rooms. And don't get me started on the bathrooms. Their evil twin, the education building (just to the east) has many of the same problems. If taking classes in those three buildings was my first impression of what the U of U has to offer, I'd head elsewhere to finish up my degree.

As it is, I got my Masters from the U last May, and did all of my undergrad work there too. So I guess it wasn't bad enough to keep me and my money away.

I'm glad they're putting these new buildings down in the same place as the old business buildings--it's a good site. But those buildings do need to be gutted or go. Might as well let them go.

I ran across this pic this morning. It was taken by Tucapel from the Regent/Adj. site. Wow, I'm impressed with the views those people are going to have on the East and South sides.

Where was your interview? I start my job on the 19th floor of the Key Bank Building this May. I'm SOOOO excited, and a promise I'll post bird's eye pics of the construction site as soon as I'm settled in.

Delts really hates that angle, but I like it because I think it makes downtown seem a little more dense than in other angles.

And yeah, it does suck that 222 doesn't show much.

What do you guys think? Good angle? Bad angle?

Mhm, it makes downtown seem really small, I don't think it makes downtown look denser, unless maybe if your talking about comparing it to photo taken from the west or north west then yes.
It does make the buildings look purty good.

Wait ten years for a few additions, widen the shot a little to the right to capture that nice peak, and for hell sakes, "take it on a blue bird day!"

I had remembered this shot from the past, promoting the golfing scene along the Wasatch Front. Notice how beautiful that peak is when you get a little further back. Usually we don't see how impressive those mountains are in back of downtown because all the pics are up close. I think with a decent camera and lens, you could bring the downtown closer, and capture the beauty of the background peaks on the northeast at the same time. Also, while at close to the same angle, it seems like it is a little more flattering to the skyline itself.
