+2C and cloudy in Moncton at 11 AM, going up to +5C this afternoon.

Winter returns on Friday/Saturday with an extended period of snow and freezing rain expected. A special weather statement has been issued. The storm track however remains uncertain and not much more can be said aside from that.

Nice being off and able to take photos all week.

Mild, rainy, foggy day. We went to nearby Presqu'ile PP, and just beat the rain.

The kind of day lighthouses were made for

I haven't see the sun at all in I think about 4 days? A system with rain and fog has been parked over the GTA since the 23rd. Pretty grim conditions. I would absolutely take a stretch of colder weather with some sunny days for a few weeks. Nothing too extreme, of course.

The long term forecast has us flipping to a colder pattern, albeit still slightly above seasonal for the first two weeks of January.

Current high of 8. Light rain and fog.

It's been hovering around freezing. Kids have been at the park all day without hats and gloves.

Police were here again, of course. Also, unrelated to the police, some dude from the drug den came across the street and spent five minutes trying to get into a car in front of my house. He eventually gave up and knocked on my door. I didn't answer, but he apparently could see me doing dishes in the kitchen based on his reaction

The fog has really been something over the last few nights. I took these images at 3 AM last night.
Today it's 8C and rainy. I really look forward to some better weather than this. I guess we won't get any winter weather for a little while still.

+2C and sunny in Moncton at 11 AM, going up to +3C this afternoon.

Our extended fall like weather will end abruptly tonight. The weather the next two days will be shit. An extended period of freezing rain is expected tomorrow, followed by snow on Saturday. Pleasant weather returns on Sunday.

There was some super thick fog yesterday morning on the mountain in Hamilton - dangerous for driving with near 0 visibility.

Hit 10 degrees on the 26th though, which was odd. I was outside in a sweater on Boxing Day. Didn’t feel right.

Bright sun again, though colder than yesterday, a few degrees below freezing. The clouds are more rare but much larger than yesterday so plenty of shady periods.

I had my first unwelcome interaction with the drug den across the street. Woke up at 3 a.m. to someone knocking, wasn't sure if that's what I heard, and then I could hear the front door being jiggled repeatedly - so I got dressed, went downstairs, told him it's 3 a.m., fuck off, and he went back across the street.

I can't tell yet if it's fully drugs or also mental illness because (I didn't see this live, just checked my security footage the next morning), he was back outside 20 minutes later just staring at my neighbour's door, not even touching it. I'll give him one more shot to kill me before I call the police.

Sun and cloud and 1 degree at 12:45pm. Pretty nice day out there. Some unsettled weather rolling in for tomorrow night through Saturday though. Looks like some mix of rain, snow, and freezing rain.

Oh, you're right. It's up to 3.3C at my place now. It was at least 6C colder when I was running my errands this morning.

One of those climate data aggregator accounts was posting that Halifax (Shearwater airport, but probably all stations) broke the old record for most days with a high over 0 this past year. The record is already broken but it's likely the remaining days will be > 0 in 2023 so it will end up with 350/365 days above 0.

This drives home the climate change discussion and the idea that a lot of the old weather data is really outdated. The 2010 YHZ airport data (30 km inland, 145 m in elevation, and averaged around 1995) lists 55 <= 0 per year for example. The right explanation there isn't that the 15 days are some epic outlier event (following outlier after outlier), it's that the YHZ data doesn't reflect conditions that can be expected in the city these days, in part due to the degree or so of warming that has happened generally. If there is a warmer El Nino winter running through January/February the record could be broken again in 2024.

Yesterday it rained, spitted or was misty virtually the whole day. Still no sun today. Like others mentioned, mild but continually grey and foggy. I haven't really minded it though. Kind of an interesting mood it is setting. I also haven't had any outdoor plans, but if I did then I would be annoyed.

Took these yesterday on the shore in Oakville. I bought something from someone who lives in a condo townhouse complex along Lakeshore. She said to drive into the parking garage, turn down the aisle and go to the end. It'll be in front of the door. First time I've ever seen doors to peoples' units in the parking garage. They have welcome mats and leave stuff like kids bikes, etc. like as if it's a porch and front door. And their cars are right in front of the doors. I assume the have proper front doors outside too, but no visitor parking.

3C and overcast. It's another OK day. I don't like the clouds too much but it's above freezing so can't complain too much. The grass is green and pleasant to look at.

Low of 1C. We've been above freezing every single minute of the day since Dec 24th.

The warmspot was Linden, AB at 14.5C.

Warmest low was White Rock, BC at 10.7C. If I was writing this post an hour later, it will another place as it will get cooler this evening.

After some scattered light morning showers the afternoon was dry and calm.
And mostly overcast as per usual.

Thursday's high at Vancouver Harbour was 13 C, the low was 10 C.
