On my rare driving times into Southern ON, I was on the 401 heading west gong out of Toronto, when what did my weary eyes see? The sport that used to go to 2 lanes by the airport had a third lane. They stuck an HOV lane in there. Unfortunately there wasn't much warning for it, and I ended up having to cross the solid lines as I am a single occupant.

When did that lane get put in?

About 6km. That's farily close.

The Town of Blue Mountain actually has a dedicated page for Highway 26 widening. Maybe a 5 lane thoroughfare from Owen Sound to Barrie, necessitating dual left turn lanes from Highway 27?

Man, what's happening on UrbanTO? What's with all these urbanites saying that all freeways should be tolled?
No wonder the suburbanites look down on urbanites and vice versa.
Urban Toronto indeed...

Well, it would solve the problems with congestion. If it were used to fund transit projects, it would be good for the area.....

(You do know my name on UT, right?)

(I do.)
I thought we (just two of us) agreed on not tolling existing ones though. I’m okay with tolling new ones as long as the price isn’t exorbitant.

I think Ontarians get scared off of toll highways because of the 407. I’ve driven the NY Thruway a few times and that’s a highway with much more reasonable tolls. I’d be less likely to object to that type of toll highway.

I doubt that the problem is the toll, but the high cost of the toll. $20 to travel ~100km? That is ludicrous! Imagine the 401 having that rate? That would work out to about $160 one way!!

And for some, that will remind them of the days when the only NDP government in Ontario caused some to receive as many as 6 speeding tickets from cameras going from Kingston to Toronto(?).

This is a rather weird video, given the caption there.
At first I thought it was someone impersonating the sergeant on Youtube, but that was his actual channel.
What in the world is going on...

What does this have to do with roads?

I associate Sergeant Kerry Schmidt with GTA highways. Just a bit concerned as this is rather odd.

The link was nothing like that... it was some short video that was saying that it would not get 1 million view.

Not sure if anyone noticed this but the province launched a new tool to track current and upcoming construction projects, similar to Ontario Northern/Southern highway program PDFs that used to be released until 2018.

https://www.ontario.ca/page/ontarios-highway-programs#section-1

I find it slightly better of the search capability in the tables to search certain highways or regions.

It looks good. I would say it is much better. I played with it for a minute or so and found out that the widening of 69; one has dates, the rest do not.

Yeah, it does seem like they don't have dates for a lot of projects. This would be similar to saying something like "2023 or beyond" in the old PDFs, where the more projects would probably be in the "beyond" category rather than in 2023.

I think the one with dating has contracts signed (between the French and Pickerel Rivers?).

I think there's still negotiations with the various FNs along the rest of the route, so a firm date really can't be set until negotiations are complete and contracts are signed.

the interface is better but it doesn't provide as much information. It only provides 3 years of data instead of 5, and does not list long range planning projects like the old PDFs did.
