Yeah, from most places the skyline IS very sparse. This is a very unique view, placing every single building just right to make it look bigger than it today is. It will get better, but driving through Surrey Central on Sunday, the whole are still feels sooooo open.

Yah if you look at Surrey Central from New West you look side on and it has a lot of giant gaps. Basically 3 clusters around Gateway, Surrey Central, and King George. For the Skyline to really look good from all angles those areas will need to fill in more.

But from Coquitlam/Lougheed and Newton (Looking North<>South) it is starting to look better and better. East<>West is the gappy skyline.

Yah basically East<>West shows off the gappiness of the Skyline which is still has. Even though the North<>South is starting to look good the perspective is misleading. You're spot on there is still a LOT of open space. The density is being built in clusters and isn't wide spread.

Also likely the sparsity of towers around. You pluck almost any high rise 35 floors or higher out and stick it in a spot with virtually nothing around, and it will look giant. You then stick 40 buildings around and start to go... hmm not so much.

All about perspective. Pull Living Shangri-la from Vancouver and pluck it in Chicago or New York City and it would look ordinary height wise. Heck putting it in Calgary or Toronto you'd likely get the same effect.

A couple of the retail units have been leased fronting City Parkway. Not sure who they are yet, but I would put a good bet on Starbucks and another food place.

They are apparently trying to find a Health / Wellness tenant for a large 2nd floor retail space facing the SkyTrain.
