The ramp just accesses the top of the dumpsters - there's a guy with a wheelbarrow in the shot.

Are they gonna be cleaning up that roof at all or at least turning it into a real green roof? Sheesh. That looks bad.

It is quite bizarre how they've delicately cut paths through the greenery, but haven't done a comprehensive clear cut. Only in Vancouver?

It will all be gone. Reason they haven't done ll right away is probably due to the sheer physical amount of it and how difficult it is going to be to cart it all away.

Pic by me today:

There's another hole opened up in the roof - seems to be in the area where one of the atriums will be.

I look at that roof every day also, and it is without a doubt the most disgusting filth-ridden thing I've seen since... ever.

EATON'S always took immaculate care of the roof, note the geometric pattern in gravel!

The article is great and highlights how Cesar Pelli's original modernist white box was gradually destroyed, first by the addition of the two floor 'cap', then by the 2000 eaton's re-do. Some great photos of the construction and early days of EATON'S and Pacific Centre

And look at that magnificent green lawn in front of the Art Gallery, as opposed to the mosh pit remnants now in place. Green city, eh Gregor?

haha

the good old days when people actually cared about the city and their surroundings and took responsibility for it themselves?

Thanks!

and I'm quoted in it (although it says SSC, not SSP (the link goes to this SSP thread))!
Cool.

Nice!!... hadn't noticed the quote and you're so right about the EATON'S EATON'S EATON'S strip, removing it was one of the many mistakes of the 2000 eaton's re-do.

Ah, they removed the crane from the Old Navy building. And I was thinking they might be installing a new one on top of the Sears building when I saw the mobile crane this morning...
