rokim99, I would say you have a valid complaint. That window looks much larger, especially at the bottom, in the virtual tour of your unit. Ours all go closer to the floor but because we will probably have a couch in front of it anyway, it hardly matters.

Definitely a valid complaint so maybe they can grant a credit to his purchase. However, likely they will not due to the disclosure statement being made available to the purchaser during the purchase period. I know a lot of people like myself would want bigger windows because natural light does affect the energy level of the space.

Went to talk to my lawyer today to hand in some paper work and what not. The lawyer mention that chances are low that the occupancy permit will be ready before end of 2016. He told me that most people in City Hall are already on vacation and he currently has a lot of cases where they are waiting for occupancy permit from multiple developers with no ETAs. Really hope that is not the case here but just thought I'd share this info here.

It's easy to blame the "big bad City" for delays which is more often than not just false. Cities are staffed year round and don't shut down for the holidays. They also make great efforts to maintain required levels of coverage even during the holiday season.

The more realistic scenario is that deficiencies required to get final occupancy are delayed in being fixed because the contractors are actually on break. A plumbing firm for example with a handful of employees is more likely to "shut down" for a week or so over Christmas than a city with thousands of employees.

Prompton Real Estate has also changed their rental ads from "available December 2016" to "availability to be determined" and first viewings are "likely to be in December." Another delay notice is probably on the horizon guys. I was told within a month at my walk through which would mean December 5th (a couple weeks later than I thought) but that's seeming less and less likely as days pass, we would have to receive our completion notices by this Friday for that to happen.

Well people, the rumour of further delays is probably true judging from the conversation I just had with customer don't care. It's the government's fault, we don't know, and maybe, being the only answers they would give. Surely we've passed the point of reasonable delay by now. They missed the first completion date by a mile, the second one was supposed to be yesterday at the latest, and now they told me they just don't know. Is this typical of Concord or are we just the lucky ones? Is this costing anyone else expenses they hadn't expected?

I had planned for furniture delivery on December 1st, so now I have to put that in storage, only a couple hundred dollars though, as well as an extra 3-4 months of rent that I've had to pay. Luckily the bank has been very understanding and they are holding my mortgage approval until completion.

This last stretch of the road is the hardest as we've all waited so long (years for many of us) for this day to arrive and all the planning and anticipation is about to come to fruition. It's normal to count the days or even minutes and even to worry. I hope all of us will finally be able to settle into our homes soon.

*sigh* I remember someone saying expect move-ins December/January likely late December, forget who that was. You'd save yourself stress if you stopped making wild guesses about dates.

I own an apartment that was built by Concord and this is exactly what happened with mine.

Save your stress, bank on moving in around Christmas (if you are on the lower floors) or into the new year (if you are on the upper floors) and just wait patiently and don't book furniture delivery until you have been given a firm date. That's just silly. Things could still go wrong with your closing.

When mine closed it was a GONG show they (Concord) were hugely delayed on their legal side and it caused issues and a few delays. You still haven't closed the most important part, your mortgage.

I know its hard but patience my friends patience.

Yes typical not only for them but the majority of developers of new construction. Has been said over and over in this thread alone. Very very very typical. Feel your pain but those complaining here should have known this already.

What you all need to do is just wait until you have a firm CLOSING date not a completion date. Completion date is meaningless and that's the date marketers give you. Closing is the date where you get your mortgage and do all the legal stuff and those are less frequently delayed majorly.

When they call you or write you and say "Your closing is December 11th" for example that is the date your mortgage is put into place and they hand you the keys. That's when you book your furniture and move in around. Don't worry they won't forget you, they want your money as quickly as they can get it.

How were we supposed to know this already. I have been on this planet for a long time now and have never been in a situation where I have been so misinformed over and over.
Completion date is not meaningless. It is defined as the date money transfers and ownership officially changes hands. At the orientation meeting back in March ( the one during which they informed us everything was on schedule and we would be moving in in the summer) we were told that completion takes place 10-14days after the walk through. It has now been 16 days since our walk through and counting. Now customer care tells us they don't know when it will be. Upset doesn't really describe how I feel considering the rent I now have to pay and the travel plans I had to cancel. Is it too much to ask to be given proper information in a timely matter? Do they think we have nothing else to do while they try to get their act together?

Boatman12, I agree. I think anyone buying into a new build can expect a reasonable delay of a couple months, but the developer needs to be upfront about anything longer. Concord could very well have told us at the March open house that we were looking at a late fall completion and not waited until mid-July to do so. They could also tell us that they are just waiting on the city, or the construction crews are a bit behind on the touch-ups, as opposed to their "we don't know" or "we don't give a damn" attitude. I understand that they only legally have to give us 10 business days notice for completion, but they should be well aware that planning takes at minimum one month, and should at least have the courtesy to give us a realistic expectation, if not an exact date, at least a month at this point. Many buyers, including myself relied (mistakenly) on the 3 month window they provided back in July and planned accordingly, only to get screwed again.

On a more positive note, I went by last night and saw that they have removed all of the construction fencing around the east tower. You can walk right up to the entrance now and the lobby floor is done. They seem to just be waiting on the furniture, gym equipment, etc.

Well my realtor has been pushing Concord to give a little bit more info since he is looking to get paid as well and Concord gave him a date of Dec 20th as the the expected date to handover keys which is crappy cuz my financial advisor who handles my mortgage is going on vacations until the new years. But all these are speculation at this point only thing we can do is wait and see.

What was the original completion date? I have a friend who is moving in to the Elliot building in DTNW and it's over 2 years behind schedule, likely another 6-9 months at least to go before completion.
