He was in "The Refreshments", who made it moderately big with the song "Banditos" in 96, here's the video featuring Papago Park:

He now fronts a band called "The Peacemakers" who wrote a very corny song that plays at the end of the D'backs games when they win:

he also sang a song which repeatedly said "rearranging deck chairs on the titanic."

you've heard of the refreshments right? they became pretty famous, especially locally. If you go to bars that have a jukebox, you've likely heard the song Mekong by them and never knew it. They also sang the theme song for King of the Hill.

I guess there's singing, per se if you count that part where one of the band members goes "Wahooooo!"

The column work on CPE is awesome. The material they used is so clean and perfect.

I am disappointed by the dichroic glass. In fact, I'd rather it not have gone up as it mars the rest of the tower.

No new lens, just a new App. It's called AutoStitch for the iPhone and works surprisingly well.

Actually, it would be pretty cool if the building was shaped the way it appears in the first photo...but then again, I feel like that's a little cliché

I've been thinking about getting that app, now that I see it in action, I'm getting it. Great photos.

Apparently Phelps Dodge is a done deal to move into One Central Park East...just waiting on official announcement. Even though they are just moving from one building to another, it looks much better for downtown and the market to vacate an older tower then having a brand new office tower sit empty.

Big rumor...word is that a hotel tower may go up on the north end of the OCPE block, which was just built as surface parking. That would be freaking sweet!

hotel sure, but about something that was discussed awhile back...
i know some of you were mentioning that you would like 5 buildings to rise on that lot... but i was thinking, just because you can, doesn't mean you should. After all, if you're going to build up you might as well build with a view. and having a view on only one side of the building because the rest of the sides are right up against another building is annoying as crap -my opinion... and I'm sure buyers who want window views pay more. Plus, and this is also my opinion, i like to look at the entire building from an all around view

I gotta say, the footprint of that lot matches a certain Aloft hotel in Tempe quite a bit and could possibly be the final destination of the former 1st St & Adams Aloft that never got built.

True enough. Though I really like the idea of an Aloft going there just North of the Phelps Dodge tower, it seemed perfect.

For this lot Id love a big tower but Id be happy with something thats just as tall as the parking podium of OCPE. It seems to me they way overbuilt for parking anyway* and could maybe have the hotel share parking spaces there. Have the potential hotel take up the entire width of the block and also perhaps wrap around OCPE along Central and have a big rooftop area with a pool, bar, etc with views of Midtown, the Phx mountains and Her Secret Is Patience. That would be bad ass.

*At least I seem to remember us saying it seemed like way too much parking. Id hate to see a hotel having a parking podium of its own as it would mean less rooms and less people and I imagine an underground garage maybe be too pricey in this economy.

EDIT: Also HX any way you can tell us where this rumor came from?
