Hey maybe one of you guys can explain this to me....the parking lot of the new methodist hopsital on I-10 in Boerne was empty when I went by...is this because it hasn't opened yet or for some other reason? Also, can someone explain why Christus Santa Rosa is going to build to a hospital across the highway? I know Kendall County's growing but surely there aren't that many people to support two hospitals right across from each other...??

That Christus Santa Rosa sign has been up for at least three years. Haven't heard anything about it in at least that long.

Has it been affected by the financial problems too?
If you're referring to the area around Camp Bullis Rd I thought I read awhile back that they had some high-end car dealerships (i.e., Lexus, Acura) planned for that space. Given what the automobile industry has been going through the past couple of years, its pretty easy to understand how that could have stalled.

I noticed there's a new mini crane at that site as well.

Éilan is trucking along, permits were pulled for building 7 of the multifamily portion of the site. Website has been updated.
They seem to be on schedule; the parking garages are being worked on now for the office space, and it looks like they're on target for a Spring 2010 availability. Website says overall completion is Jan-2012.

The renderings on the site look nice.
Permits were taken out for "renovations to former Mervyn's." valuation in the amount of $2.1 million. There are a few more, newer interior renderings on the site to include these:

also, more permits were also granted for bldgs. 6, 7, and 8 for Eilan's multifamily portion in addition to the ones pulled last week for 6 upper floors above the retail base.

Looks like they starting to work on the new parking garage at University Hospital. They have already ripped up most of the parking lot where I believe the garage is supposed to be.

If those renderings are true of NorthStar, then that Mall will be something else. The hotel would be a big hit for it. Very Kewl, Indeed...

A 103-room Hampton Inn will soon begin construction at Hausman Rd and 1604.

Cool...since I drive by there everyday it will be nice to see something....BUT...the day the service road on both sides of the loop in that area gets completely developed I will cry, and not tears of happiness. I like the 1604/Hausman/Kyle Seale, 1604/Bandera, and Helotes area I live in to feel like a smaller town that's detached from SA.

I grew up at the intersection of Babcock and 1604, when 1604 was a two lane road with stop lights you could walk across. I cried about it years ago. Now i just feels like San Antonio. What's shocking is how long full development has taken compared to the 281/1604 area, which took much longer to get going, but is now way ahead of this area.

Babcock is still a two lane road at 1604...
