Another amazing drone set from @hawc over at urbantoronto. Drone was flying at about 230-240 metres high.

^ permits are still not up to date the last I heard. Bizarre from a developer this big (but they didn't give a sh*t about CityPlace so I guess they don't give a sh*t about fines?).

One Yonge is very nice.

Maybe we need to be more excited for this tower.

Not sure, but it could the Toronto skyscraper domination. Anything TO-centric never goes over well with city boosters in the RoC.

Yes, but the number of non-skyscraper related threads totally dominates skyscraper threads here.

I remember when Calgary was putting up The Bow, Brookfield Place, Telus Sky... this site was super skyscraper heavy. Way more involvement and comments. But ever since the rest of Canada stopped building anything tall, and Greater Toronto took over basically 100% of the skyscraper construction... its all crickets.

I mean Toronto is currently constructing the country's top 3 tallest towers and nobody really seems to care. You'd think there would be a little more excitement!

I think there's a lot more to whether people are excited about a project than its relative height. There's also whether people like the design, the skyline impact, and what it means for a city. For one thing, people tend to be more excited over office towers since they're rarer and harder to do, at least in Canada. Plus, it implies a strong business sector when there's a demand for class A office space. People get excited about signs of economic success. Nationally we seem to put up 10 or 20 tall residential buildings for every tall office project, so with 2/3 of those Calgary projects being fully office and the 3rd having a large office component, that probably makes a difference.

And in my case, The One has been going on for so long it's hard to maintain excitement for that many years. I remember pointing it out to a buddy as the future tallest when we visited three years ago and it was already several stories above ground then. And with Concord Sky... I don't like it. So obviously I wouldn't get excited about something I don't like. With Forma, I'm nervous. Whether or not I like it will depend on the execution. It could be quite nice or become an eyesore, so it's too early for excitement.

Rest of Canada didn't stop building anything tall, Toronto just started building that much taller than anyone else!

Vancouver and Montreal are all building more taller buildings than they ever have, or in Montreal's case, more than they have in a while.

I think it's just that the Canada section is so flooded by Toronto updates other places don't really post their updates here. I know the Vancouver sub is very active, but few if any post in the Canada section.

Fair enough, that makes sense. Personally I'd love to see more updates from Montreal and Vancouver. I was in Montreal last summer and noticed all the new towers going up. In their case, they are building their tallest towers which are really impacting the skyline. Im a bit out of the loop on Vancouver construction but I would love to see more updates there!

I just realized Pinnacle One Yonge will surpass the roof height of Chicagos John Hancock tower by 1.5 m.

There are other construction threads. I don't see a problem.

Maybe its not the top tier skyscraper construction over 300 meters. That's a part of the problem. Even the main page skyscraper threads see little outside of Toronto. Obviously Toronto is building so many skyscrapers, that it is quite possible just Toronto construction would be at least the first few pages on the main highrise and skyscraper forums.

Now everyone in Toronto is just numb to the construction. And now we understand the global and geopolitical plans that are being made for our city, and maybe now its not such a good thing as we thought it was initially.

Exactly. Most of the development conversion is in the local forums. It always has been. However, those have largely shifted to off site project threads from SSP and SSC general development compilations.

Top ten tallest is extremely narrow. It doesn't give an impression of what is going on around Canada.

And, then there are cities with convoluted zoning processes with endless drawings and very little as of right and others with much simpler land use discussion and development approvals that have expiry dates.

Toronto forumers shouldn't be overwhelmed by construction especially when the numbers are in free fall. New starts are way down. There's just little separation between construction and proposed and proposed updates including, new, revised, zoning approval keep chugging along.

As for Vancouver, things appear to be booming as always. Things appear to be slowing down in Montreal.
