I'm pretty sure it's at that point in the range where it depends on how much freight payload they want to be able to include on the route. More freight means less fuel to stay under take off weight thresholds.

Agree. But, Airbus did note that its range was 4700 nm "fully loaded." However, I didn't take the time to research how, specifically "full loaded" was defined.

Delta bravely wading into these low-yield markets proves they are committed to a hub and FF base in Austin.

I expect next we see them resume the leisure markets AA vacated recently- PVR, SJD, LIR.

Southwest Airlines will close flight attendant bases in Austin and Fort Lauderdale, Fla., the latest in a series of cost-cutting movies by the Dallas-based carrier. Southwest will close the “domiciles” on July, and relocate the 280 flight attendants located in Fort Lauderdale and Austin to other crew bases.

The Austin and Fort Lauderdale locations are two smaller “satellite” operations for Southwest, and only host flight attendants, not pilots.

Those were "test bases" which opened in 2018. Not surprised they were cut with everything going on at SWA.

Regardless this has to be seen as a positive from a Delta perspective. The 2 big home state airlines have retreated leaving more opportunity for Delta moves.

In fairness, only American retreated - in terms of lost routes. If I'm not mistaken, Southwest will provide the most seats ever from AUS this year.

I drove past the old Mueller tower at night a few weeks back; loved the little park they built around it, as before it was just barren wasteland for so long, but more importantly they actually lit the tower up!

I have very few memories of Mueller municipal, but was this lighting added or was the tower also lit this way back in the day when RMM was operational?

Sorry this isn't considered "ABIA", but it is airport related.

By Curt Epstein • Senior Editor
March 19, 2025

Million Air broke ground yesterday on the Phase II expansion of its FBO at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (KAUS) in Texas. The FBO—one of three on the field—opened in 2019.

This second $50 million phase—scheduled for completion in second-quarter 2026—will add a trio of 40,000-sq-ft hangars capable of handling the latest ultra-long-range business jets.

Shouldn't that be reversed considering by number counting, 186/187 comes before 190/191? unless they are counting backwards...

Delta adding 2 nonstop flights from Austin to Mexico

Starting next winter, the airline will begin offering nonstop service from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport (ABIA) to both Cancún and Cabo San Lucas. Service to both destinations will operate once daily once the routes are officially operational. Both begin December 20, 2025

While technically correct that article just has it sort of wrong. SJD is only for like 2 weeks.

Cancun (CUN) - AUS New: 1 daily Dec 20, 2025-Apr 12, 2026

San Jose del Cabo (SJD) - AUS New: 1 daily Dec 20, 2025-Jan 5, 2026
