I wonder why BC Place has never sold naming rights? I have to imagine the whoever's in charge group has been approached about it. Heck, get another bank involved and make it CIBC Place, or Bell for BCE Place lol

There was a deal with Telus back in 2011, but the government of the day (BC Liberals) cancelled the deal. Bids for naming rights to the stadium were sought in 2019, but I haven't yet found what if anything came from that. However, apparently the Lions have a deal with Save-On Foods wherein the field is known as "Save-On-Foods Field at BC Place":

It's cheap and it works. I really don't care if my tool comes in Snap-On red. If it turns screws it's good enough for me!

Bell Pitch is, I think, still the name in use when the Whitecaps are playing there.

I think there was a bit of a backlash as BC Place is owned by a Crown Corporation. PavCo is the name, they also own the "new" BC Convention Centre down at the Waterfront.

Notably they lose money every year.

THE MOST annoying adverts during CFL games. Though the "ref" in their commercials would probably do better than the ones we see in the games.

Brantford council to consider pitch for $140-million sports and entertainment centre — a new home for the Bulldogs
Proposed venue would have capacity of more than 5,000 and could become permanent home of the OHL hockey team.

https://www.thespec.com/news/council...85dde2e14.html

Brantford city council will consider a pitch for a $140-million sport and entertainment centre that could see Hamilton’s former Bulldogs hockey team remain in the city indefinitely.

On Tuesday night, council members will be presented with a detailed financial plan for the new arena, which will see a much larger multi-use venue added to the downtown area.

When they say seating more than 5000, hopefully they really mean 7000+.

Andlauer seems committed to keep the Bulldogs in Brantford. There goes my theory that he could shuffle his junior teams around, moving the baby Sens to Kanata and the Bulldogs back to Bellville.

I still predict the AHL team goes to Kanata when the Sens move, I don't think the OHL factors into that at all. He has more connection to Brantford based on proximity to Hamilton than he does to Belleville, I can totally see him leaving Belleville altogether.

There is considerable damage to Tropicana Field due to the Hurricane.

This article floats the idea the Rays could make a return to Montreal on an interim basis while Tropicana Field is repaired, assuming that is practical.

Judging from the pics I'm seeing of the damage, that may take a very long time.

How long will the First phase of repairing Olympic stadium's Technical ring take ?

At that point, the stadium could be used as an Outdoor venue which is something I have been pushing for all along.

Such would expedite a return of some baseball games to Montreal and open the possibility of a Taylor Swift concert in the near future.

I maintain that it is not necessary to complete a full roof on the Stadium. At least not in the near term.

Solidifying the current roof should be the main objective.

Olympic Stadium was an Outdoor stadium for many years :

If they can play in the Big O without a roof, they can play at the Trop without a roof and just deal with the weather the same way all the minor league teams do. Or they can go play at Steinbrenner Field, and probably improve their attendance. Or they can go cross state and play at the Marlins park. Taylor's tour ends in 2 months in BC, but nice attempt to yet again try to come up with a way to get her to play in Montreal. Must be a real inferiority complex having her play in Vancouver and Toronto and not Montreal.

Is there a stadium that can host baseball in Orlando, or Jacksonville?

Being in a hurricane zone you'd think the team would have an alternative/emergency plan in place. Same goes for the Buccaneers and Lightning

I think their plan was "We haven't had a hurricane make landfall here in over 100 years".

To me down here, Olympic Stadium is not a viable option in 6 months. This Rays blog, D-Rays Bay, gives many of the options discussed above, with most options in Florida. Orlando may be the best option aside from Tropicana Field or sharing a stadium with the Marlins.

Olympic Stadium confirmed to not be a venue for the Rays, due to the stadium not being ready in time to help in any capacity.

Quote:
The proposal comes days after a spokesperson for Montreal's Olympic Stadium confirmed the venue would not be playable in 2025.

Also, MLB wants the Rays to play as close to Tampa Bay as possible.
