@immovablemedia:

you should also check out the inside of lenox square. the food court is entirely different, and the second and third floors were totally reorganized.

when it comes to the macy's tree, i think it sucks.

the tree doesn't even look real, it looks unnaturally conical and looks like something you'd see in any old retail outlet. i can't believe this is supposed to be the most important tree in the city, it's pathetic.

we went from this:

to this:

i mean, really, that's piss poor. you can't even see the tree from the street, you have to drive down in the parking lot to see it. they're just trying to save money and pass it off as a "safety" issue. they certainly could have added restraints to the tree to make it more stable.

i remember it was a big deal when the tree was "chosen" and they would find someone's farm up in north georgia, they'd have a big ceremony and carry the tree down. i mean, what is this?

I'll create an inside Lenox video once the outside is complete. I've been in there and must say the changes enhanced my experience.

As for the tree? I agree it's sad to see a demoted Christmas tree...

I agree...height is fine, but not the most important thing to yearn for.

We are already known for our tall buildings in Atlanta, so it would be nice to work on infill (I think we are currently seeing some great infill).

I'd love to see the city plug the holes between the Lenox district and South downtown with 5-25 story buildings before going way up. It wouldn't hurt to broaden the urbanized area a bit to the east and west as well.

We've got decades worth of development possibilities just within those confines. Once that has been built out there will be pressure to build taller.

Yes, it really is quite embarrassing even. Macy's should be ashamed to take a Decades old Atlanta tradition and dumb down to this. I cannot even believe people went to see the lighting. I am sure native Atlantans did not.
This is the way it use to be, I remember these days downtown very well, it was an amazing event.

TRUST me, I know. I work at Macy's part time. Macy's has changed sooo much over the last several years. They don't care about anything anymore but making money. The company has gone down hill in so many ways.

I don't mind getting a few super tall skyscrapers but i where I want them at will br north of downtown towards mid and south midtown. And between midtown and buckhead

About macy tree, I'm not surprise anyone hasn't ran into this fake tree, if they did I hope macy will learn their lesson lol. But you know it would be great for it to be at the underground it surely will draw attention for underground.

The fake tree at Emory Midtown is more impressive than the Macy's one.

Development team kicking off Skyhouse Buckhead

According to a report in The Buckhead View publication, The environmentally sustainable and Energy Star certified project is expected to be delivered in the first quarter of 2015. The project is a continuation of the Buckhead vision of real estate developer Charles S. Ackerman, the founder and chairman of Ackerman & Co, who has owned the property and surrounding properties since the 1980s.Ackerman was the developer of the first high-rise office tower project in Buckhead, Tower Place. SkyHouse Buckhead will be connected to the Buckhead MARTA station and Tower Place on the west side of GA 400 by a new pedestrian bridge spanning the highway.

I have to say that tho I do wish the tree would still be on top of Macy's, its been quite a few years since the tree looked great. Like seriously guys, did you ever see the tree in the daytime? It looked a completely utter mess. It was embarrassing. I remember people saying that the tree at AS looked ten times better.

Thanks. Have there been any final renderings?! I assume yoo are talking about 13th street? (some were thinking the proposal for 1138 Peachtree might be yoo's).

Yes it will be the 13th Street Site. 1138 is looking like a fall 2014 start. It will not be a Yoo project but Tivoli is involved.

The rendering in the forum link below is correct. It will have 7 levels of parking and 18 stories of residential units.

Have they actually gotten any financing on 1138? When they announced it, it was a "Fall 2014 but we dont actually have financing" which means little more than "we paid someone to put together a brochure." Since they needed a venture partner for 13th street, which is a much smaller project (25 stories residential vs. 51 stories of retail/residential), I would be very interested to see what venture partner/financing situation they can get worked out on 1138... It's a really good sign for Midtown if there is financing available for that kind of project.
