I was referring to the official SSP definition of "minimum 12 floors or 35 meters / 115 feet in height". So, realizing it meets that definition, I gave it a thread.
^^I think I've mentioned this before, but once a year I leave the City for Arizona for the winter and almost as long as I've been doing this I plan my getaway for the middle of the night to escape traffic. But for the last several years there has been absolute gridlock getting onto the Bay Bridge even at 1 or 2 AM. The last 2 years I didn't even try and just drove on city streets to I-280, then took it south to San Jose and over the pass to I-5. I truly pitty those with a daily commute and I've noticed now that even the 42 Muni line from 4th & Townsend through SOMA to Van Ness gets ensnared in the traffic trying to get onto the bridge in the afternoon.

The transformation of our traffic conditions is likewise incredible.
it's hard to believe the City has added about 100,000 people since that first pic was taken. thinking about it, though, I suspect (no data here) that much of the change in conditions comes from people entering SF from outside, since SF has done a pretty good job at putting its new housing in places where non-driving options are readily available. edit again: and conditions may have actually been improving slightly for a while there

Much of the traffic is from people outside of the City who live in other Bay Area town/cities who need to commute into the City. While the City has added 100k+, the Bay Area has added closer to 1 million in the past 11 years

Pedestrian - thanks for the update. I have been looking at the hole in the ground for months & thought maybe the project would never happen. So glad to see some news on the development. I took my first picture in December 2016 of the demolition of the previous building on the site! Maybe the developer needed a place holder for the permit?

Thanks Timbad. The memories are so well consolidated of this corridor, and its transformation over the years, are still always there, but it makes all the more difference to have the visual comparison captured. appreciate your avid documentation and contribution!
