The size of the downtown Vancouver isn't really that large in the core, sure there's West, East and North Van, but the downtown core's are similarly sized. Both have nature incorporated around bodies of water, but sadly we do not have real mountains, but honourable shout out to our mountain at 300m.
We don't have a mountain - we live in a crater lol.

But our escarpment is 100m from Sam Lawrence to downtown.

Come on, let's pretend it's 300M, but in all honesty, it's a land lump. Provides nice views from Sam Lawrence though!

Cypress the smaller of the two mountains in North Van, still measures 900M.

At least the Escarpment is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve, that's something.

I always describe the mountain to foreign friends as a Big Damn Cliff, and I have the feeling some people out West make fun of us calling it a mountain, compared to what they've got

Your correct CG!. When I moved here from Vancouver in the 90s, I remember people telling me we have mountains in Ontario. I asked where and they said Blue Mountain, and then I laughed. Between Alberta and BC, some truly remarkable specimens out West. A cliff is a pretty good reference point for the Escarpment. Still better than anything else in Southern Ontario.

What's up with these things that look like a metal frame at the top of this building? I sort of expected this was an incomplete feature that would be filled in with glass or something else to create interest in the skyline but as time drags on, I'm wondering if it's meant to be like this, or will stay like this.

Jeezus on top of that issue you mention.... is that visible yellow spray foam around the window frames on the right side of the photo and rubber insulation strips falling out the cracks between the concrete panels? Looks rushed and super cheap up close like this! Also looks like a square of glass is missing?

My thought was that it was unfinished and that dark grey cladding would be continued over but it increasingly doesn’t look like it will. I too am confused.

It’s typical for there to be outstanding work like broken panels in condos, but the longer post construction it is the more unusual it is.

I messaged them on Instagram a while back about the original plan to have a lit headdress and they responded with "Stay Tuned"

I think the cherry picker out front is a pretty good sign of work still ongoing here for finishing touches.

I have to say this isn’t a terrible building. Certainly the best residential building in Hamilton so far this cycle (not like there’s a ton of competition).

Anyone know what's going in the podium of this building? Is it office space?

It's all parking, except for a few retail units on the ground floor.

Wow, didn't know that. Interesting.

Did this building switch to rental at some point? I feel like I remember units being for sale a while ago, now it looks to be strictly rental apartments.

I think the original plan for Vrancor was condos here but they ended up going rental.

The parking garage above grade is actually public parking. The city is currently encouraging developers to build public parking where possible to replace disappearing surface lots, I believe they have some subsidies for it too.

Whenever I see this building at night, almost none of the units look occupied. Maybe 10-15%.

Walked by Friday Jan 22, and the rust was still on the white concrete. There were people in construction vests the last couple days going in and out of the first floor and doing some kind of measurements:

I honestly think they don't have any plans to remove the rust stain.
