Only 45 apartments and over 1,400 ft.? Sounds good to me. The floorplans look pretty impressive, and nice to see they're starting to release the layouts and marketing materials.

These apartments will be enormous. I assume these will be more expensive than 432 Park. Obviously with the building so skinny, you assume the units are small, but the opposite is true, because these are all full-floors, at a minimum.

And the 57th Street project really caught our eye. The 1,400+ foot tower will also become the slimmest building in the world with a slenderness ratio of 1:23. Its narrow profile and stepped crown evoke the romantic art-deco towers of the 1920s and ’30s and other timeless city landmarks. SHoP Architects are the designers and WSP Group are the engineers/magicians making sure things remain upright.

In regards to 111 West 57th, Koster notes that the Landmarks-approved façade is the most intricate curtain wall ever designed for a modern residential building. The east and west elevations of the building are load-bearing walls clad in an energetic pattern of terra-cotta panels with bronze filigree details that create a dynamic play of light and shadow. The glass curtain walls on the north and south facades provide sweeping views of Central Park and Midtown. And like a god looking down from Mt. Olympus, the stunning image shown above depicts what such an upper-floor view looking south would be. As if that were not enough, the tower will also have front-and-center views of Central Park to the north.

That is one gorgeous render, and now over 1400ft? wow. Best supertall design going up anywhere in this country...

Meh its too skinny IMO. fits well in New York with all the other super skinny towers, but it looks like a stick. with this and 432 park going up the empire state building is going to feel bad about itself

The King already got grumpy when 432 PA topped out.

I hear Malkin decided not to showcase the 57th street towers on the skyline posters in the ESB. Pathetic.

I love the floor plans, this tower is going to be quite amazing. I'll have a great view from my job just like I did with 0ne57.

Can't wait for the rising to begin!

This is a great building in every way, but imagine if that brass and terracotta facade was wrapped around the entire building instead of just the sides. That would be truly special. The facade is a perfect nod to old New York while simultaneously taking New York into the next generation of architecture. Superior to Nordrstom and 432 Park in every way.

The over 1400 ft hasn't been confirmed. The speculation is that because the height on the building permit is 1397 ft, the tower itself must be higher. That isn't always the case, and may not be the case here.

The mega-developments include the 96-story 432 Park Ave., which at 1,396 feet is the tallest residential property in the western hemisphere.

The 104-unit condo, where one penthouse sold for $95 million, is slated to open next year.

The Nordstrom Tower — at 225 W. 57th St. — will rival it at 92 stories once completed in 2018.

At 1,775 feet tall, it will be the city’s second-tallest building and just a foot shorter than One World Trade Center (and that’s only if you include the WTC spire).

Here’s a rundown of what buildings will reach for the sky.

53W53, an 82-story condo rising at 1,050 feet tall, will open in 2018, and the 1,350-foot-tall condo at 111 W. 57th St. and 66-story 220 Central Park South both launch in 2016.

Also pictured is 520 Park Ave., a 54-story residential tower at E. 60th St. that may have the priciest apartment in city history. A triplex penthouse will go for $130 million in the building.

One Vanderbilt, a proposed office tower next to Grand Central Terminal, will be 1,514 tall and 65 stories. Construction is slated for 2017 and will be completed by 2021.

I love how 1 Vanderbilt completely dwarfs the Chrysler Building in that last view. It's kinda like how the nearby MetLife building completely dominates the Helmsley Building when you look down at them on Park Ave.

One of my top 5 supertalls going up in Manhattan Island but still it looks like it could topple over due to climate change (stronger winds etc...)

Thats all factored in when designing/engineering a structure (even earthquakes as well). I wouldn't worry. The PSI in this tower will be incredibly high.
